Issue DLing and getting torrent to work.

Recommended Posts

I installed and had no issues with the game. I am making this post for my buddy though. Can't seem to figure out why this isn't working. He DLs the wow files from https://pirateproxy.vip/torrent/5076223/ like posted on the page(same place i got mine). Everything is fine but when the DL finishes and he tries to open the file it doesn't work. When he opens the torrent all the icons and files open in internet explorer. We don't torrent often so not sure why this is happening. Thanks

Can you try uploading your game files to Google Drive and having him download it that way? I did that for my friend and it worked perfectly fine. Otherwise it sounds like it may not be downloading every file or something is wrong with how his computer reads it.

Hey vektsin,

The files on that DL link are compressed into a zip file (.rar file). He needs winrar to open it, could that be the problem?

Could you post a screenshot of what he is seeing?

Sounds like some of the torrent was corrupted during the download. Also, as Shiamorah stated a screenshot would better allow us to see what is going on.

He apparently wasn't opening it with WinRar and was default trying open in internet explorer. He is DL'ing it again. Sorry we aren't computer savvy. :|

Okay, well if that works then awesome. For future reference though, Google Drive is a free service for up to 15GB of storage per gmail account. It's just a nice way of transferring big files around or using it to backup stuff where it won't get deleted if your computer has issues.

But first option is to unzip the files properly. I believe Windows 7 and higher have a built in program to decompress files, but winrar and winzip are both good alternatives. Just make sure he keeps all the files in one main folder for organization and the game should run fine when launched from WoW.exe

Haha, yeah I have a career in IT and in most cases issues are a result of some silly mistake. I'm glad that you got everything figured out, enjoy playing together!
