Ret Pala or dps Warrior?

Hey, Guys. Im a very pvp oriented player and wanted to play retri Paladin on the fresh Server today.

But since they kinda lack dps in raids, i am feared that i Cant join Any raids because they dont have slots for retris, which means that i cant get any decent gear.

since im not interested in healing or tanking that wont be an option for me.

whats your opinion on that guys? Would Warrior be the better choice? Or do they have the Same Problem With everyone forcing you to Tank instead of dps?

Both are fine in PvP, but yes, Ret is shit in PvE and you won't get invited to anything other than MC. unless your guild is willing to carry you with a Nightfall.

 

No, you will not be "forced to tank", especially when raids only need 2-3 tanks most of the time.

Or you will get this sweet 2H axe with debuff, then guild will tolerate you as ret paly.

There are plenty of Warrior DPS within raids, so theres always spots open for that.

In dungeon 5 Mans you might have a little more of an expectation to tank, your just gonna have to make it clear when you join that your only interested in DPS. This also means that you'l be sharing loot with the REAL tank while dunegon leveling and such so keep that in mind (tanks dont like to share loot, theyd rather find a clothie to team with)

Whatever you do, just make it clear to your group right when you join and you wont really have any problems. (or theyl simply find sum1 else)

Warriors not able to tank 5mans are not good warrior, nor intelligent players, as you could be getting all mail/plate loot instead of sharing with the tank in case you are dps and the tank is not a druid.

 

Fury warrior does insane dps in raids post MC. Ret has to play optimally to do acceptable dps.

B4 rolling ret you should know that pretty much all ret pally PVP vids from vanilla are pure highlight reel vids with nothing but fights with tons of crits/procs and are very poor representations of what playing ret is like at lvl 60 (you will spend most of your time waiting for your swing timer and cursing every 3.8 sec when you get no crits/procs... or worse miss). That combined with the terrible itemization of the gear you can get b4 AQ patch and the fact that R10/13 Pally pvp gear is more itemized for reck/holy spec... means you will be stuck with a pretty sub optimal toon on the fresh server for quite a while if you are only willing to play as pure pvp dps.

Most good pallies will be reck/holy and spend most of their time healing/cleansing/supporting and save reck bombs for healers/efcs.

 

Warriors are strong through pretty much all of Vanilla and do great burst/dps, but are pretty easy to shut down if they don't have heals.

A lot of people watch vids of guys in r13/t2.5 with r14 weps/HoR hitting for 1500+ dmg white crits and 1200+ dmg soc crits on undergeared clothies that die instantly and go "wow ret looks super viable at 60 you can just one shot dudes with your crazy good damage" but that really isnt what its like unless you have that gear and get great rng. Most fights are gonna be grinds where you only come out on top cause of proper use of healing/Def CDs.

Don't get me wrong tho I'm not saying pallies aren't viable, I love the class. Just trying to make sure he has a realistic expectation of what hes getting himself into.
