Hi,

hunter melee weapons are stat sticks, meaning if the stats on the wep is +agi or AP you are good.  Str. Is almost useless for you. If the weapon is an upgrade and you intend to/can use it , roll need. Simple as that! But don't be that melee hunter guy.

Regarding your pet, If you have completed your lvl 10 hunter questline to get a pet, and speak to the pet trainer in orgrimmar/Thunderbluff, you should have a spell in your spellbook called "beast training"  in the general tab of your spellbook. The icon looks like a slingshot.

There you can teach your pet, skills that you have learned from the trainer, and those you have learned by capturing new exotic animals. You restrain your pet by talking to the pet trainer, and selecting "I wish to unlearn my pet's abilities"  Your pet gain training points by lvling up, and increasing happiness (lvl 6 i max happy)

Happy hunting...

Thanks for the answears.

I know about the beast training but the thing is my pet is a 26 cat with happines level 6 but still can only learn growl.

But in order to learn new skills i have to tame new pets, is that what your saying?

In order to learn new abilities to train, you have to tame pets that already know such abilities.  Then you use those abilities until you learn how to teach the ability (usually only takes a few uses to learn).

What Drak said.

This addon can help you figure out where to find beasts with the various abilities you'll need.

also his addon feed-o-matic is genious, you can click on pet happiness icon or make a macro /feedomatic feed and put it on bar if you have UI w/out pet's happiness icon.

oh, forgot to say what this addon does. It takes any food from bags and feeds your pet, and you can make some rules, like "feed anything but food with stats" and some other.

I got a request to add PetFeeder to the thread, and I haven't tried it yet, so I haven't posted any details. The way I do my feeding is I keep my food in the bottom left corner of my backpack and my macro will feed the meat there to Rapture.

I see that these are two different addons.

I'll link both addons here, I suppose, and get around to putting details when I can.

My disclaimer from the OP still stands. Scan what you download - just in case. :)
