21:9 / 2560 x 1080p Widescreen resolution issues

Recommended Posts

Hi,

Long story short, today I built a PC from scratch for the first time. I logged onto Elysium, and was enjoying my widescreen monitor's 21:9 resolution. I soon realised I had plugged my HDMI into the Motherboard and was using the onboard graphics, as opposed to my GTX 1070.

I now plugged my HDMI into my GTX 1070 and my widescreen WoW is no longer supported! (there's no option for 2560 x 1080 like there was earlier).

If anyone could please assist me, I would be truly grateful.

Is your desktop at the correct resolution, if not, do you have the option? If neither, your monitor may not support the resolution through hdmi, you may need a display port connection. I'm no expert, just going by past experience.

I had the same problem and my fix was to disconnect any other displays, reboot the PC and it worked fine thereafter. If I connect a second display now it still only shows 1600x1200 max, but at 2560x1080 I don't need a second display.

I also run it in maximized window mode.

Since you stated that the resolution was fine using your onboard graphics I highly suggest to update your video driver (Drivers | GeForce). This should be the correct one if you use a 64 bit version of windows 10.

Personally, I run WoW at 3440x1440 in fullscreen (not borderless windowed mode) and use a second display to watch twitch or browse the web. That should not be a problem either.

The HDMI cable should work fine too. You used it before. Same as the HDMI input on your display.
