End game Dagger Rogues - need your input!

Recommended Posts

So I recently acquired mugger's belt from DM:N. I'm currently using Nightslayer Belt (6/8 set) and Aged Core Leather gloves. I've noticed that other dagger rogues never stack mugger's belt with aged core leather gloves. As a combat dagger rogue - my weapon skill is 305, and 310 with the MC dagger gloves.

I understand the advantages of higher weapon skill (less miss/dodge/parry and less of a reduction to glancing blows). Is the reason dagger rogues don't stack muggers/aged core gloves because the main damage input for dagger rogues in raids is their yellow dmg (backstab/ambush), rather than white? Would I be better off staying at 310 and using the NS belt for stats? Or is it worth wearing the mugger's belt for 315 dagger skill?

Thanks in advance!

In the framework of standard pve specs, as long as they are playing optimally, the majority of a Rogues' damage is going to be from white hits. Regardless of being dagger or sword spec. Daggers just have more yellow damage than swords, but it's still not the majority.

The reason you don't see rogues with over 310 weapon skill, is because the glancing blows reduction is the only thing that matters (realistically). The other benefits are just small bonuses.

You would be better off staying with ACLG and no Mugger's belt. You'll be wearing those gloves until you can get your hands on a Death's Sting.

Nost 1.0 (supposedly) ran with a 315 weapon skill cap, rather than the 310 that so many other private realms use.

They reasoned this was supposed to be because it's 5 pts per lvl, and with bosses being lvl 63, that's 15 pts.

I doubt anyone has tested (or asked) if the cap is 310 or 315 here, but if it's 315, it's worth wearing the dagger skill gear to reach the cap.

Overall going for 315 dagger (or sword too) weapon skill is not worth as it usually means trading big agi/crit/hit/ap gain just for extra +5 dagger skill (and 1% crit in the belt's case).

The difference in glancing blows damage from 310 to 315 is not high enough. Pure stats gain are going to increase every source of damage you pull out (except poison procs). 315 weapon skill will just yield a little damage increase on 40% of your white swings which themselves represent around 50% of your damage output.

Use ACLG + Mugger's Belt if MC is your latest raid tier. Replace Mugger's Belt with BF Belt once you are able to go 3/8 T2 with it. At this point you can vendor Mugger's Belt.

AQ40 will provide you these few extra dagger skill points with Death's Sting (you go up to 313, there is no need to go 315 really) and if you're lucky you also get Belt of Never-end Agony, whose stats completely outperform what Mugger's Belt would provide.

Once you get death string you should bank ACLG too tbh. 108 + gloves of enforcement stat upgrade is a lot better than 2 wep skill. You could say the "soft cap" of wep skill is at 310 tho.
