Manacost Shapeshift unreal?

Recommended Posts

Well its kind of rumbles inside me since i started playing a druid. Is this reall intentional that switching forms takes 1/3 of my mana? Im Level 34 now and my Shapeshift cost 387 mana while i have only 1200. Even with a little bit of intellect its a mess. I cant even use a powershift because of that manacost. In fights i sometimes ran out of mana and cant do anything anymore. Can you guys tell me how to make a Powershift Feral PVE Spec later on with that manacosts? Is it getting better lategame?

bear / cat form costs 55% of your base mana (mana when you have no intellect gear)

trave / aquatic form costs 20% of your base mana

Omen of Clarity or Natural Shapshifter really help with any mana issues once you pick them up around level 44ish (depending on how you choose your talents). In the mean time, try to use bandages to save on mana.

at level 33 aswell. but im at 2.2k mana. it's about your gear and what stats you prioritize imo.

Powershifting isn't a thing except when trying to max your deeps in a raid. The beauty of druid grinding is you stay in form, down a couple of mobs, pop out and heal yourself and then go back into form to let your mana regen. And yeah shifting is really expensive without a big mana pool.

My suggestion to you is to prioritize like this; Stam > Int > Agi/Str.

Reason being is that the % bonuses on Cat abilities are sufficient when you have mediocre Agi/Str, while you gain 2AP per STR (+20% in Cat with 30 pts Feral) and 1% Crit per ~20 AGI (which is the lower than Hunters, Warriors and Rogues). Int isn't necessarily your HP in the way that a Priest's mana is their HP, but the mentality is very similar; if you have no mana, you're going to die. I don't know where you've put your points, but I've found that shooting for 30 pts in Feral is the best use of points during the mid-late 30s. You shouldn't be using Healing Touch while being hit, and Nature's Swiftness (while nice) requires too much investment into one role (healing) while that 30 pt talent buffs all 3 (20% Int + 20% Stam/Str in Bear/Cat).

Omen of Clarity and Natural Shape Shifter are just begging to be paired with 30 (or 31) pts Feral and should help the versatility of Druids really come into its own... free shifts are beyond useful for a class that's best utilized by shifting often.

You shouldn't have the mana issues you're currently having with decent gear and optimized talents. Briar is only 2 levels higher than you but she has ~2300 mana with MotW while still using the staff from Deadmines (because Arcanist Doan thinks the Hypnotic Blade is amazing).

Hey Briar,

Im still using the Hammer from BFD because of the Stats (11 Strength, 4 Agility if i remember correctly).
You do not benefit from Weaponlevel, -DPS or Damage anyway. Just the stats are important. I might not have put much efford in getting intellect gear. I do have around 120 Strength and 100 Agi with level 35. It works all in all pretty well when just pveing. I kill everything pretty fast and have around 20% critchance allready. My Points are in Feral ofcourse. But when it comes to PVP i have zero chance. Even with high Agi and Str im not able to Shapeshift twice in a fight because im out of mana before. Its kinda annoying.

Cheers
