Randomly banned! Help!

Hi! I was jumping around in Teldrassil, doing quests. Suddenly I get disconnected and now it says I am banned when I try to log in. Help!

Information for you.

Read though recent forum posts re: banned / suspended.

There is a process for "appealing" your ban, they may or may not get back to you.

And if they do its very limited (my opinion pointless) information i.e. "Banned for hacking <period>"

Wow, seems like tons of us having same problem. One week I was away from home, then tried to log in and boom, suspended. What i should do now when ban appeals are closed? Just throw 30 hours of leveling behind and stop playing because im banned for no reason? AMAZING. I never use any hack or buying any golds..

I can assure you, we take careful steps to verify before banning. If someone has been banned it would be because of gold spamming, illegal behaviour (such as exploiting or wall jumping), the use of third party programs including key press or macro applications or bot programs, multi-boxing, etc.

While we acknowledge that it is always possible that mistakes are made (and hence have a confidential ban appeal process), we take care to verify behaviour and records before performing a ban.

I don't know what to say. It's all so strange. Since I am 100% certain that I did nothing wrong there must have been a mistake when I was banned. Maybe someone who broke a rule had a name that looked like mine? If someone could look closer into my case we can see for sure that I did nothing wrong. I was looking forward to playing on this server but I don't feel very welcome when I am punished and then accused of stuff I never did.

Did you take gold from anyone? If a guy or something comes up to you with 'here buddy take this 50gold to level' and you take it, you've probably taken dirty gold which could ban you.

I haven't ever traded with anyone. I think the highest amount of money I had in game was 90 silver. And when it comes to mailbox I only got stuff there from AH and sent between my own characters. So no dirty items/gold there either.

Doesn't sound like a cheater.

Why would he jump on a open forum and ask to have his situation looked into further?

This would make a "reasonable person" question other bans that happened in the last ban wave.

A reasonable person would question why banned people don't just make a ban appeal instead of making a public thread.

From what we heard it can take days to get a response on a ban appeal. He won't get any official response here, other then to make an appeal.

I understand the frustration but be patient, young padwan.

Could you please point me to rules concerning 'wall jumping?' I assume it is about doing this in WSG, say; but there is certain in-game content where people always wall-jumped, just for fun (examples would be reaching the top of the AH in IF, or the dwarven airport). The latter ones are perfectly harmless. I'm terrible at doing this myself anyway, and so unlikely to engage in it, but would not want to break rules I'm unaware of; hence, any clarification would be great! :) Thanks.

It's not about walljumping in general, often there is no harm to it, and sometimes it's necessary (ZF when the door glitches, for example). It's when you are doing it for a competitive advantage over other players, or to cheat against intended mechanics.

Went from suspended on Friday night to account banned today. No contact, no discussion or explanation. Got friends on this server that are telling me to create another account so I can play but hard to do when I'm not sure what I did to get banned so it would be difficult to make sure I don't do it again. Or that I wouldn't be randomly picked for another ban when the person with the ban stick gets bored again.

My account was also randomly banned for no reason. I haven't even been home in the last week, guildmate verified my "Last Online" to when it was actually me. 

I get that there's the "well, it's volunteer and it's free" aspect, but it's a little disheartening to sink a bunch of time into something only to have it taken away for no reason with no explanation/recourse. A suggestion going forward would be to at least give a statement as to why an account is being banned.

It's official now. GMs are just banning people and tagging cheating/hacking. I got my ban appeal answered with this: 

They have 0 care for their community. Good bye troll GMs.

Wow seeing the reply you were given makes me wonder about my account, i was on my warlock and got bored so decided to level a new character, i had only just created the character and was in the process of setting up my action bars when i was dc'd then when i tried logging in seen the ominous message on the login screen notifying me i was banned, ive never bought no gold or cheated what so ever during my time on here, infact i even downloaded and setup the spamthrottle addon to stop those gold selling pricks from messaging me.

 

I did speak to a couple of CM's on the Discord channel and they told me the server had just begun undergoing a DDOS attack which coinsided with around the time i was disconnected and banned, im guessing the anti-cheat software must have triggered a false positive in my case, as it just seems too big of a coincidence to me.
