Attack power Vs Crit

Recommended Posts

As the title says, i was wondering how much attack power = 1 crit.  When comparing items im wondering which is better dalrends set 1 crit and 50 ap, vs 2x assassination blade for 2 crit.  Or eye of rend vs the living strat helm 40ap vs 1 crit etc..

If anyone has any insight or has done theorycrafting for this please share :D

Crit value scales with your gear and can roughly be calculated. For pre-raid gear it's 30-32 RAP per crit and goes up to 35-38 in later stages of PvE progression.

If judging Agility vs. pure AP take the rule of thumb factor 2.5 for Agility as it also gives crit.

Example: 2% crit or 1% crit and 50 AP.

~64 AP against ~82 AP. Dal'rends is the clear winner.

@popomonster I got a few stat values that you can use from my hunter guide here: http://forums.crestfall-gaming.com/index.php?/topic/1794-hunter-guide-the-arrow-and-you/

ps. Skip the BIS list section if you're going read more of the guide than just the stat values because the BIS list is not accurate for Elysium's item progression.

Well, the value of crit is completely relational to the value of your ap.  When looking at upgrades, I try to look at the stats in terms of % increase in damage.  I view 1% crit as a 1% increase in damage (on average).  When judging AP, I look at my paperdoll AP (when buffed) and see what a 1% increase would be.  (1500 RAP?  then 15 RAP is about 1% increase).  This isn't a very accurate way of measuring it, but a halfway decent way of trying to eye-ball it.

Just remember, having a high-crit rate is fun.....unless you're critting for 200 damage because you have no AP.  For pre-raid, I try to get to around 20%
