Alker431 0 Report post Posted February 22, 2017 Hi guys, I'm currently leveling a protection warrior in the mid 20s. Without asking, I have had people tell me two things: don't use rend, and always use sunder armor. I have looked them up, and I still don't understand. My rotation is shoot/charge, revenge/shield block, repeat 50 times. If there are multiple mobs, I use demoralizing shout and maybe stance dance to thunderclap if things are hairy. When I have excess rage, I either battle shout, rend, or sunder armor. Never heroic strike. 1. Why is rend considered so bad? Rend does 45 damage/10 rage vs Heroic Strike's 20-25 damage/19 rage. Even having rend tick 3/5 times does more damage. These are low level 5 man dungeons, so the debuff limit is never reached. Despite this, everywhere I go says that rend is a waste of rage, yet it's never coupled with an explanation. 2. Why so much emphasis on sunder armor? I know that it generates threat and reduces armor, but these levels it's hardly necessary. I never lose aggro on my main target, and bosses are the only things that live long enough to get more than 2 stacks. 0 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
Storfan 24 Report post Posted February 22, 2017 1. Dont level as protection. Trust me on this, it will only result in tears. I have leveled and geared up 4 warriors to 60, once in retail vanilla and three times on various private vanilla-projects, I've tried it all. If you for some reason still want to level as prot it only gets (sort-of-okay-ish) at 40 when you can get shieldslam. 2. Revenge doesnt produce much damage, mostly just threat which is wasted when questing. Save that rage for other abilities, (or better yet, dont lvl as prot). Revenge is great though when doing 5mans combined with sunder. 3. Rend is actually pretty good all the way to lvl40 once you get your 40-talent (assuming you've spent all talents in same tree to that point). You should always be using Rend until you get Bloodthirst, Mortalstrike or Shieldslam. 4.
