Missing gold

Recommended Posts

I have 2FA set up and my password and username are pretty secure. Nothing else was taken, no items removed, and none of my other less secure (but more valuable) accounts have been compromised.

Is this a known issue? Like I said I have 2FA set up so I don't see how it's possible my account was compromised.

Greetings!

Game items such as experience, gold or equipment that you have lost through accident, very rare failure of the server, or otherwise, cannot be restored

You might have malicious addons who sneakily send away gold when you use the mailbox.

Happened to me on retail. Think it was weak auras or something similar that got me. Didn't notice for days because it was a small percentage every time I opened the mail box on the characters with that addon enabled. It was over 20k by the time I realized. Sneaky bastards.

I love the same generic responses from GMs. Oh it was your fault for not have 2fa... Oh you have 2fa, well its still not our fault because it doesn't happen often. Ever wonder where the gold the sellers are selling comes from, and why (if they cared about it as much as they claimed) there are so many gold sellers here? Hmmmmm.

As I said before, I'm pretty sure it's mailcious addon(s).

Malicious addons that the warden doesn't catch that sends money from your account. Hmmm, sounds like a security weakness... or programing done to accomplish a goal. . . .

Okay, so my main toon Greyscale was banned because I stupidly tested out a hack. I tried to appeal it explaining I never actually gained an unfair advantage and was rebuffed on the basis I did actually gain an unfair advantage, despite my clear explanation of this not being a case. Sure, I can understand why you would think I'm trying to gain an unfair advantage, but I never did. I was open and honest and admitted to it being a stupid mistake, but no leeway was given.

I accept this, despite constantly receiving spam from gold farmers. Apparently buying gold doesn't count as gaining an unfair advantage? But using a speed hack in the opposite direction from where you wanted to go does?

I accept this even after I found out the first people to 60 were boosted by their GM friends.

Now something like this happens and your response is effectively tough titties? I did everything I was supposed to do. I have 2FA, I don't use addons, and I lost a significant amount. And you refuse to restore it? How am I meant to retain any sense of security while playing on this server? Even my Kronos II accounts still have everything I left them with and I don't have 2FA for Kronos.

Look, I'm done with this server unless I see a little fucking compassion from its operators. I'm sceptical I'm going to receive that level of emotional maturity given some of the posts I've seen from Shenna. I'll keep logging on once a day at peak times to check to see if my gold's returned and, if not, to share my story with anyone online willing to listen.

Supposedly he's a stock vanilla ui player who only dabbles in hacking. I'm sure he's perfectly innocent and the loss of gold is server side. Surrrre.

I tried using add-ons back on Kronos but didn't find any were useful or functional enough for me. So I got rid of them all. Bartender is too restrictive, and doesn't allow me more versatility in keybinding. AH mods come with more errors than they're worth, etc.

Again, my Kronos account remains untouched. It doesn't have 2FA.

If you read my ban appeal it says I made a google search for 'how to hack a world of warcraft account' out of frustration with being ganked.

If it was my fault, I'd still be playing. Look at my post count? What do you think I have to gain by misrepresenting my situation on the forums? I don't care about the community. It should be obvious that I don't care. I only care about playing Vanilla wow on a good, secure, server, and given what's happened to me how am I expected to feel secure playing on this server?

Why did I level a whole new account after my first one was banned? Why was I still so polite even though my plans were frustrated by the GM staff? BECAUSE IT WAS MY FAULT. Apparently, in your mind, me taking full responsibility when it is my fault is good evidence that I'm the type of person to not take accountability?

And I hope you realise: This isn't JUST about the gold. Look at the response by the GM team to this thread? Even though something is happening and it's their fault they're not curious in the slightest about what could be going on. My post was dismissed with a generic response as soon as it was posted and they simply do not care about fixing it.
