Need to be exalted to buy my own race's mount?

Sorry that my evidence isn't opened in the post, but I couldn't figure out to do this for the life of me.

So my issue is pretty straightforward. I apparently need to be exalted with the night elves to buy my mount training, even though my character is indeed a night elf. I am only level 37 (night elf rogue on Ananthema), but I happened to visit the mount vendor in Darnassus and noticed this issue, which is shown in the picture linked below. I wanted to hopefully rectify the issue before I hit 40 soon.

For whoever reads this and can help, thank you for your time, and I hope this can be fixed. I am revered with Darnassus simply from questing, but still have a ways to go, and there aren't any quests I could do to reach exalted status until much later.

Although, when I look for "available" and "unavailable" skills with the nightsaber trainer, nothing appears....hoping this somehow changes when i hit 40

My girlfriend and I are both experiencing this problem now.  We’re both Night Elves (druid and priest) and at level 40 but the riding trainer in Darnassus says we have to be Exalted.  This is our own race’s mount.

Does anyone know what’s going on and how we fix it?

Never mind: I just realized that you can ignore the message about needing to be exalted and buy the mount anyway.  It's apparently just an incorrect greeting/message.
