The transfer process will take at least a full day to complete, probably more due to the large amount of data being processed and the need to test it thoroughly before pushing the changes to the live realms.

Mhm, alright. Akira's wording on the official post is kinda misleading, though. It says "[...]The transfers from Zeth’Kur have now come to an end.[...]", which suggests to me that my characters would be playble.
