Guide/Tutorial/Instructions for new contributors

Dear team of elysium project!

First of all, I would like to thank you guys for this project, especially when it became open source.

 

When I created my 1 lvl NE priest and leveled up to 7th lvl I met a broken quest https://elysium-project.org/bugtracker/issue/3835 . I wanted to try to fix it, since I have experience with mangos zero server but I got stuck with installation of elysium-project server. I successfully compiled it but then could not properly configure databases and maps. So I ask you to make a guide/tutorial on configuring the server. I think this information will be very useful for many non-experienced but desiring to help you developers.

I don't know anything about compiling mangos but I can say something about your bug report. Menelas is not missing. He's upstairs if you take a right in the cave. If he's supposed to be there in vanilla I don't know but there he is and has always been on here and on old nost and on any other vanilla server I remember.

It is not my bug report.

And I grinded 1.5 levels in that cave while searched him :)

Correct me if I mistake but this guide is not suitable for elysium.

That is how you compile the Elysium servers, using the data off of GitHub.

You take first right and you get to the water. Go over it and continue a little bit. Look left and he's there on the ledge looking out at the middle room. If you would go to the right there instead you would come to the ledge where stuff usually is in these types of caves.

If I clone elysium github repository with elysium databases from github instead of mangos repository then it will not work with this guide or I'm wrong?

You need to compile it the same way that you would for mangos, but replace cmake and vmaps, for example, with the one we use on GitHub: https://github.com/elysium-project/server

It's not something I've tried, but that's been the general advice from our dev team on Discord for people looking to experiment.

So I should just download mangos stuff then download elysium staff, replace all mangos stuff with elysium stuff and do the same?

My advice would be to start with Mangos to get familiar with how to compile the server and what components are needed.
