This is a matter of some debate, and honestly it really depends on the people you run with. Some people are willing to let you experiment and try things they haven't seen (work) before. Some people are mired so deep in the well worn wagon ruts that if you deviate even slightly from the Tried And True™ strategies that they demand of you they'll kick you to the curb. Decide for yourself what will make you the happiest when you play and then find people who are willing to team up with you while you play that way.
