Getting disconnected from server upon loading game

Recommended Posts

As the title says I'm having an issue where I am getting booted or disconnected from the server as soon as I load into the game world. I have tried different characters across different servers with the same result. I also tried deleting my WTF folder and various compatibility settings to no avail.

I do get this LUA error message as well:

PfPAYqU.jpg

So I log in, that pops up, and after about 1-2 seconds I get booted back to the login screen. Not the character select. Just to be clear.

Want to add I went through the sticky and tried this:

Quote

7. "I cannot connect to the server / I get immediately disconnected"

First, try resetting your modem and router. If that doesn't work, please try opening your Config.wtf file, and removing the server name completely. Restart your WoW client. If the issue persists, open the Config.wtf file and find the line "SET realmName ".....". If this line is present, make sure one of our realm names is inside the quotation. If it is "QA Test Realm ____", change it to the name of one of our realms. (If it is not present, add SET realmName "Desired realm" ). If you are still unable to connect, or need assistance,  please pursue help in one of our support channels in Discord or the "Help and Support" subforum.

And still to no avail. I also tried using a hotspot from my phone, bypassing my home network/router, and got the same result.

One final thing I just tried was a complete re-download of the torrent linked to on the elysium main website.

The fresh client also had the same issue, so at this point I'm not sure what else I can try.

Try deleting your WDB folder while exited from the game.

Thanks for the response. Tried this just now and still have the same problem. Could this be related to my hardware?

I'm running a 1080 Ti with Gsync enabled

I would try try deleting the Addons folder in the Interface folder. Save it somewhere if you have add ons of your own.

Failing that, reinstall WoW

Did all that as posted earlier.

I did run the same install just now on a different computer and it's working without being disconnected, or any UI popup. No idea what on my computer could be interfering.

If it's a typical computer, there are so many interdependencies that how any of them work is a miracle. Glad you got some kind of resolution.

Not really a solution, but it does make it pretty clear some software on my computer is interfering with the program.

The main difference is my laptop has an i5-7200U with the integrated GPU and my desktop has an nVidia card. I tried disabling Shadowplay and still got nothing. If anyone has some suggestions of things to shut down let me know.

As to the working of Windows, sorry. Can not help at all. Hopefully someone will help. One of the problems is 11+ year old software interacting with a new OS.

I don't think it's Windows related, since both of these computers are Windows 10. WoW uses well-supported APIs so age is not really an issue. Thanks anyway, though. Hopefully someone with some experience in LUA or just the client itself may have an idea what could be causing the issue, hopefully the error message is helpful.

Try installing retail WoW client. It will update a bunch of WoW-related registry hooks. It's crazy but it might fix your issue.
