Aldridgeguy 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2017 I have customised a few settings (video, key bindings, macros etc) but when I log out of the game they don't seem to be saving because the next time I log on everything has reverted to default. I have tried a few 'fixes' I found on other threads including running the game as administrator, but it doesn't work. Can anyone offer any advice please? (I am running the game on Win7) As a side note, every time I log on to the game I have to re-sign the user license agreement and it also plays the opening cinematic (as if it's the first time I have played the game) Thanks in advance for any help or advice you can offer.
Spionida 10 Report post Posted August 4, 2017 Typically that is because WoW is running in a write protected area. If your World of Warcraft folder is in Program on Window, move it to, say, the desktop. When you next lunch it, that folder and its contents should be writeable. If on a Mac, do a Get Info on the World of Warcraft folder and check the permissions are Read/Write for the folder and its contents.
Aldridgeguy 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2017 (edited) I am already running the game from a folder on my desktop rather than from the programmes folder But thank you very much for the info, I shall look into it :) Edited August 4, 2017 by Aldridgeguy correction
Aldridgeguy 0 Report post Posted August 4, 2017 OK Now I'm REALLY confused lol I've tried adjusting the main WoW folder on my desktop to read / write as you can see here [/img] But whenever I re-open the folder it reverts back to read only, which I find odd because, as you can see in the permissions tab, I have read and write permissions for the folder I decided to try and locate the exact folder in which game options and saved data is stored to see if I could adjust THAT folder at least and found out that the path should be World of Warcraft \ WTF \ Account \ < account_name \ SavedVariables Yet when I check my WTF sub folder in my main WoW folder, it is empty Do you have any idea where I could go from here because I'm at a loss :( I'd appreciate any help
Hudson 16 Report post Posted August 4, 2017 Try creating a new folder on your desktop and dragging the contents of your WoW directory into it. You can also run this script as an administrator via the command line (replace the directory path with your WoW directory): Quote attrib -r c:\Hudson\WarcraftHacksForSale
Aldridgeguy 0 Report post Posted August 5, 2017 Thanks for the advice. I finally got this sorted and just for the record (in case anyone else gets this problem) it turns out all I had to do was delete the WTF folder and then boot the game up , the game then creates a new one for you as you play and puts all your account specific preferences in there
