(47) prot spec/progression advice please

So I'm level 47 and thinking this is a good time to dive into the Prot War world seeing as ULDA/ZF/MARA/ST.... it's a world of instance progression.

I'm looking for advice on how to spec and then how to progress through to 60 as protection.

I was thinking something like this

any advice on how to respect as 47, I will mainly be doing the instance crawl till 60 other then the mandatory world quests required for character progression and instance quest chains.

p.s. I am aware you can "tank just fine any lvl 60 instance" I want to use the tools and the talents that a Prot warrior come with.

http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LV0bZZxfzoeMdVo is what I would recommend. Shield slam is your best dps ability both for soloing and tanking. For soloing just save up rage for shield slams while for dungeons a traditional style is preferred (same routine as at 60)

Does "Cruelty" work with "Shield Slam" or is it just with your equipped weapon?

afaik it shouldn't affect shield slam at all since it says "with melee weapons"

Since when is a shield not a weapon?  If I am using it to hit you in melee range, it is a weapon.

by that logic, your fists are weapons because you can punch people with them, yet you can't use sunder while unarmed
