shaddoe 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2017 I don't know if this was a bug or an intended change but my pet no longer attacks under either defensive or aggressive when I right click a mob and I have to manually click attack. I asked in general chat and was told by a couple warlocks that they were having the same issue with their voidwalkers. I hope this is not an intentional change and I can be given a work around to get back to the prior behavior. It was working normally right up to the last maintenance.
shaddoe 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2017 Asked a couple hunters if they were also having this issue and was told they weren't, asked some guild members and they said they were, so either the first hunters who I didn't know were giving dishonest answers or this issue seems to only affect some people. I deleted my game folder and re-extracted the client so I know the issue isn't with a corrupted file in my client, that leave a setting that somehow changed itself or an account issue on the server.
Hudson 16 Report post Posted September 11, 2017 Report any bugs to our bug tracker. It's entirely possible this was an intentional change, as "Defensive" implies that they will attack mobs that are attacking you, rather than vice versa.
shaddoe 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2017 In researching this issue I found many threads in the official WOW forums asking if there was a way to STOP your pet from auto attacking on right click with the response being not without creating an addon or macro. In Vanilla WOW right clicking a mob is supposed to put you in melee attack mode which causes your pet either in aggressive or defensive mode to attack that target, the only mode where a manual attack command is supposed to be required is passive. The only change in this behavior in later versions of WOW was that ranged attack would also be triggered by right clicking a target but thankfully that change came well after Vanilla so hopefully we'll never see it here. I will report it to the bug tracker but sincerely hope it wasn't an intentional change away from Vanilla behavior. edit After filing a bug report I saw that another user had created a similar report dealing with this issue on Locks only so at least it's verified there are more affected by this than just me.
shaddoe 0 Report post Posted September 11, 2017 Apparently this was fixed, at least on the Elysium server. On logging into Elysium I find both my hunter and lock both behave in the expected manner, my hunter on Anathema still seems bugged but I'm hoping that will also correct itself.
