Drulad 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2017 (edited) The titel says it all. With AQ on our doorsteps on Darrowshire, we are in the middle of preparing. With the shitty proccrates of Coldrage Dagger (good bit below what is written in the 2005 sources) the usefulness of the melee pack hinges on Iceblade Hacker. With the (indeed very good) search function I found a few threads celebrating that the elemental component finally works and speculations regarding it's implication regarding Visc, but no final confirmation. So ... does it work? Ah yeah, and while I'm at it: Have they implemented Band of Cenarius and the craftable NR gear properly on 1.9 or are they waiting with it until 1.11 as it was in retail? Allerius 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2017 There are quite a few frost dmg based weappons in that range and frost oil does the rest
Drulad 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2017 Iceblade Hacker 57 - 106 Damage +1 - 5 Frost Damage (42.3 damage per second) Is a bit special. It's not a proc, it simply has X frostdamage added to every hit. It's not even that long that the entire effect was properly implemented and it's another question, if Viscidus counts this kind of frost damage. Hence my initial question.
Allerius 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2017 Spelldamage that's dealt physically is still Spelldamage, p.e. Lupus and his shadow damage - so yes if they don't screwed the item itself big time it should work.
Drulad 0 Report post Posted September 14, 2017 I know it should. But does it? You have Visc out, we don't.
Undertanker 88 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 Step 1: Don't Freeze as Melee stay out >100 yards, and relieve stress of druids/shamans. Step 2: Run in and Break Vis with Regular Weapons Step 3: Use Sapper / Grenade / Cannonball trinket / Crystal Charge / ect Step 4: Hit Vis with normal weapons Profit.
Haestingas 30 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 Once iceblade hacker works if your melee and shaman/pally use it correctly its insane. You can freeze visc with just 1-2 bolt volleys going out.
Drulad 0 Report post Posted September 16, 2017 "Once ..."? So it doesn't? And yes, I know. I calculated the rough number of frost attacks classes can apply and came to mages/priests/warlocks: ~35 rogues: ~13 warriors: ~90 hunters: ~82 A bit of contextual explanation: The boss has roughly 3 parts. The boss is alive/moving/hitting the MT and attacks the raid with a poison bolt aoe, that also applies a debuff to be dispelled. The boss freezes after receiving 300 frost attacks. It stops moving/attacking/spitting aoe poison. It needs to get hit x times in melee to shatter in a couple of seconds ... to get splitted into blobs. All blows get thrown into all corners of the room and reassemble in the middle. Each killed blob lowers the boss hp by 5%. You can damage the boss in all 3 phases, but the fastest is killing blobs. As the boss only deals damage in P1 rushing to P2 also means not wiping to damage/poison. And only the shatter mechanics allows us to kill the boss. There are two-ish strategies to handle the fight. As healer/dispell mana is the restricting part of the fight, you can avoid too many players getting damaged by starting with melees outside of the 100y poison volley and making them retreat after P3 when P1 starts anew. This can be achieved my making them run to the opposite end of the room or strait out of the room. On ED you left combat when leaving the room, giving the melees the chance to mount up again. Shortly before P2 it was announced, so melees ran in to deal the required number of melee attacks and to attack blobs in P3. Melees staying in the entire fight, applying frost damage attacks quicker, but requiring more dispells and heals. Now this hinges on one factor: Can melee properly apply frost attacks? They have to compare themselves to casters with wands (40 frost attacks per minute/46 as a mage with 1.3 speed wand) They have 3 sources to do so. 1) A weapon with a frost attack or frost proc: 1a) Rogues can only aquire frost proc weapons like [Coldrage Dagger] (all seem to be on the same level in terms of proccs) 1b) while hunters and warriors can equip [Iceblade Hacker] 2) Icy Chill 3) Frost Oil A rogue can use [Coldrage Dagger] twice, use slice and dice and attack roughly 104 times with white hits and X yellow hits (600 energy per minute means 2 slice and dice for 25 and 13-14 sinister strikes). This equals 117 attacks, not considering dodges/misses and so on. Lets round it down to 100 (which is optimistic). 100 hits (per one minute) equal 10 frost attacks from Frost Oil (10% chance on hit) 2,5-4 frost attacks from Icy Chill (1/1.6 ppm equal 2.5%/4% chance on hit) 2-8 frost attacks from Coldrage Dagger procs (huge variety both in test result and retail/pserver results!) In one minute a rogue can apply somewhere between 14,5 and 22 frost attacks, while leaning more to the lower end. While test results differ, it seems clear that elysium has a far lower proc chance on frost weapons than what we've seen on retail. Also missing here: Rogues normally don't have spellhit, meaning whatever they produce will miss with a 17% chance. In the end a rogue will bring about a third of attacks to the table what a caster can do. A warrior/hunter are different. They can use [Iceblade Hacker]. But how does this position them? Due to different mechanics we differ between MH-attacks and OH-attacks. Considering 9% hit they have they should get 40 (hamstring spam) + 30 (auto attack) * 1,2 (partial flurry uptime) = 76 Warrior MH attacks 40 (wingclip spam) + 30 (auto attack) = 70 hunter MH attacks 40 (offhand autohit) * 0,81 (offhand hit malus) * 1,2 (partial flurry uptime) = 38,88 Warrior OH attacks 40 (offhand autohit) * 0,81 (offhand hit malus) = 32,4 Hunter OH attacks Per minute a warrior can apply ... 76 frost attacks with [Iceblade Hacker] 11,5 frost attacks from Frost Oil (10% chance on hit) 2,5-4 + 1-1,5 frost attacks from Icy Chill (1/1.6 ppm equal 3.33%/5.33% on a 2.0 weapon and 2.5%/4% on a 1.5 weapon) 0,8-3 frost attacks from Coldrage Dagger procs ... 89-92 after the spell hit check on average. Per minute a hunter can apply ... 70 frost attacks with [Iceblade Hacker] 9,5 frost attacks from Frost Oil (10% chance on hit) 2-4 + 0,8-1,25 frost attacks from Icy Chill (1/1.6 ppm equal 3.33%/5.33% on a 2.0 weapon and 2.5%/4% on a 1.5 weapon) 0,7-2,5 frost attacks from Coldrage Dagger procs ... 81-84 after the spell hit check on average. Conclusion: GTFO rogues! :D And if warrior and hunter are usefull entirely depends on the right implementation of [Iceblade Hacker] and its frost damage to Viscidus.
