Bits and pieces

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone, I am new to the server and spent a bit of my time roaming the forums for most of my issues. However, I didnt find answers to some of them so decided to ask them here (sorry again if some of them were answered). I started with a warrior even thou I saw tons of posts about how its a bad class to start with, but, I just cant play any other class, it just doesnt fit me. So far, even thou its hard, I am loving it but do have questions about end game. I did play on a priviate server before but it was a cataylsm server and played retail wod and legion so I do know my way around tanking, dpsing and such. However, I wasnt expecting vanilla to be like this :)

So my first question would be, is there group world pvp and is it balanced? By balanced I mean even numbers I understand some classes might be bit op-ish.

My next question is about macros, since I have never seen this version of LUA I am having hard time understandin them how they work. Is there a general guide that explains most of it? I dont feel like reverse engineering other peoples macros just to find out how they work. Also I saw that "if then else" statements work, hell I even saw loops, is this normal? Doesnt this mean you could tehnicly write a one button macro for most of your abilities?

Is there any special gear for pvp and special for raiding like retail has? Or you just aim for the one with best stats? How hard are dungeons/raids in general compared to retail? In which dificulty would you put them if you "had" to (normal, heroic, mytich, mythic+)?

Best regards,

Cola

For the first bit, keep with the warrior. It's a rewarding class. After level 40 they become one of the strongest classes in general. As well as being the best tanks, they are also a strong dps option, so keep going.

There's tons of world pvp. The question is what kind are you looking for in terms of "strength" for your class. A classic 40v40 death match in hillsbrad? For that, melee would suffer in my opinion or the sake of being kites and slowed easily. In a 1 vs 1, it's all based on class match up really, or who gets the jump on the other person.

There are pvp rewards, but they don't offer pvp specific stats that you are used to. If anything, it's a pvp oriented set bonus for each class. But there's no resilience or pvp power or whatever it is now like on retail.

Lastly, there's no comparisons for current wows dungeon. These dungeons in vanilla aren't a 30 minute speed clear ride or die. Some dungeons are quick like a tribute run, and some of themy take quite a long time. Failing in the dungeons reward nothing compared to retail. You get a lesser key with a new chance of success, with a quick respawn. In vanilla it might result in failing an escort quest, paired with a 5 minute run back and rebuff.

When it comes to world pvp I understand warrior is not the goto class for 1on1s and thats ok because I am more into group stuff. Only type of group world pvp I experienced was occasional fights around world quests in legion which was quite unbalanced when it comes to tanks. What role does a warrior have when it comes to group fights, small ones, medium or large ones? Do you run into a group and create chaos and tank them or you hit someone with one mortal strike and then you get insta gibbed?

Msotly you're just a snare/MS bot with good HP so you don't die as fast. remember that a lvl 40 warrior has more hp then a lvl 60 mage :P

Warrior is hard to level, but it isn't nearly as hard as people claim it to be just because they can't play properly.

You want to have a good big slow hard hitting weapon, and you also need an attack timer addon. Just charge the mob and hamstring it, then run away until your next swing is ready and engage again, etc until the mob is dead. This way, even though your weapon is slow, you end up dealing and recieving equal number of hits which very much favors you and helps to avoid unnessessary damage.

There is inevitable group pvp while levelling, simply because there are so many players around. Most of the time Horde has bigger population than Alliance, so it makes a bit of imbalance, but nothing really critical.

Yes, vanilla macros can still have a lot of functionality, here are some guides and references that I use for making my macros.

There are PvE and PvP sets, but the difference is just stats and bonuses and how you obtain it. For example, warrior's tier sets are all fit for tanks, while PvP set has balanced stats for any spec in PvP.

I can't tell how hard dungeons are in comparison to retail since I haven't played the latter in a long-ass time, but dungeons aren't hard if you're not very undergeared-underlevelled and if people just pay attention to what they're doing. Warrior is awesome because it's so good and needed as a tank, but it's also one of the best dps classes if you have the right gear.
