Cannot talk to Jarven Thunderbrew

Doing quest Bitter Rivals. I got to the basement and talked to barrel which says that I cannot replace it while it is guarded by Jarven Thunderbrew.

Now I am expected to talk to the guard, but no question mark appears on top of him.

When you go to the basement you have to wait for Jarven to path away. Then place the barrel and then leave the basement.

What his cooldown? I was waiting for 15 minutes but he does not go anywhere.

This quest have a bug. When I accept the quest, it is not added to the quest list but I get a quest item.

I tested on 2 different fresh characters and it seems fine - please close the game, navigate to your install directory and delete the WDB folder inside of your wow directory.

Then reload the game and it will re-download the cache from the server.

Hello, 

I tried to delete WDB folder as you mentioned but nothing happened. Problem is that when i took that quest from NPC "Marleth Barleybrew" she didn't had exclamation mark above head but question mark, when i took that quest, it doesnt appeared in quest log so i couldn't abandon that quest and take it again, only item called Barrel of Barleybrew Scalder was in my inventory so i tried to remove it from inventory, closed game, delete WDB again, relaunch and nothing happened. Please try to look on it. Thanx 🙂

Did you distract him as the quest text says? I did this quest again yesterday and it was working.

Same problem / and if you drop that quest item, you can't retake it, and can't restart the quest,

It's was working well on valkyrie 2010, now 2019 and it's bugged, lol

I just did it again on another character, you have to buy and place the beer. You have to follow the quest text.
