**READ HERE FIRST! SUPPORT MEGATHREAD & FAQ**

This thread goes over all the most common issues to get you into the game quickly. To use this thread, use Control+F to word search for your issue and the solutions.

**Most important things to remember when installing and following the Guide**

  1. Download links given can be shut down at any time. Any WoW version 1.12.1 download or torrent will work on our servers. Our client is not specific, so feel free to google up a download link. Just use caution and common sense when downloading anything from any website and protect yourself from virus' and other malware.
  2. Make sure when you install it is NOT in program files. It is best installed on a secondary drive or straight onto your desktop.
  3. Make sure you set your realmlist.wtf file to only have 1 line; "set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org" without quotes.
    1. It's also possible that some computer configurations and text editors will add an additional space before or after you copy/paste. Please ensure there is not an additional space before you save and close your realmlist.wtf file.
  4. Some computer configurations with Windows 10 as the operating system will cause issues in-game such as inability to connect and some graphical problems. If you experience this try right-clicking your WoW.exe and turn compatibility to Windows 7 or Windows XP.

Receiving "WoW Error #134" when trying to play.

This error is a catch all for when the client doesn't actually know the error, and is in regards to not being able to write to the game files. This could be just about anything computer related. It could be hardware or software. This is one of the hardest errors to diagnose because there are so many factors.

  1. This could also be a security software error.
    1. Make sure your security software such as Norton, McAfee, Panda, Malwarebytes, Avast, AVG, Kaspersky etc. isn't blocking WoW in any way.
    2. You will have to refer to the support of the software. You are looking to "whitelist" the WoW client.
  2. Make sure you have your drivers up to date from the manufacturer's website. The most common drivers for this error to take care to update first are;
    1. Video Card
    2. Sound Card
    3. Motherboard Chipset
    4. Network Card
  3. Try running the game in Windows XP Compatibility mode.
    1. Right Click your WoW.exe shortcut on your desktop and select properties.
    2. Switch to your "Compatibility" Tab.
    3. Click the box next to "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
    4. Select Windows XP (Service Pack 2) from the dropdown box.
  4. It could be caused by an addon.
    1. please CUT your Interface and WTF folders in your World of Warcraft 1.12 folder out of this folder to a new location such as your desktop.
    2. Relaunch the game - this will change everything back to default settings and you will not have any addons.
    3. If the game plays fine with no errors, one of your addons is causing it.
      1. If your addons are causing it, add them back one by one starting with the addon most important to you first until you find which one caused it.
      2. Once found remove the offending addon. You may also try to redownload/reinstall the addon as it is also possible it was corrupted.
  5. Your client itself could be corrupted.
    1. Please backup your Interface and WTF folders to another folder such as your desktop.
    2. Completely re-download and re-install the client. Refer back to the beginners guide to make sure you follow all steps correctly.

Logging in and you get a message that the account is banned / ban resolution / ban appeal

  1. If you have a fresh account and receive this message, it is likely due to not checking your email and activating your account.
  2. If you have tried multiple times to log on you have possibly banned yourself on accident. If this is the case, simply try again in about 1 hour.
  3. If you have not played in a long time, first try resetting your password here; https://cp.elysium-project.org/signin
  4. If the above do not work your account may have been sanctioned. If so, and you wish to dispute is follow the directions here; https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/65465-ban-appeals-read-first/

Logging in and you get a "Disconnected" message

In most cases a "Disconnected" message is an incorrect realmlist.wtf file. Please use directions above and in our How to Play / Beginners guide to correct your realmlist.wtf file.

If you have recently played on our servers and this is the first time you have received it please do the following;

  1. Restart your client and try again.
  2. Restart your computer and try again.
  3. Restart your internet connection and try again.
  4. Try a VPN service.
    1. If you do not subscribe to a VPN, you can try trial;
      1. TunnelBear https://www.tunnelbear.com/
      2. Express VPN https://www.expressvpn.com
    2.  Play with what VPN server you are connecting with, most seem to have success lowering Ping and solving connection issues by using France.
  5. If none of these work your client may be corrupted. Please backup your Interface folder and re-install your client.

Item Issues / Tool Tip Issue's / Incorrect Item Stats

First thing to do with item issues is to always try to clear your WDB folder first by closing the game, navigating to your World of Warcraft 1.12.1 install folder and then deleting the "WDB" folder inside. This is your local copy of the Warcraft item Data Base. Upon your next log-in you will download a fresh version of the WDB. It is even a good idea to do this from time to time even if you are not experiencing any issues. It can help to prevent them. Vanilla private servers do not deal with the game cache as well as the original retail servers.

  1. If you are having item issues such as not able to turn in a quest item or a guild charter
    1. Place the item in the very first slot of your original backpack (Top Left, default it is occupied by your hearthstone.)
    2. Close the game --> Delete your WDB folder --> Reopen the game --> Log back in and try the turn in again.
      1. If the above doesn't work go through the additional step of placing the item in your bank first. Then re-logging, placing the item in your first backpack slot and then trying to turn it in.

Specific Quest Known Issues / Difficulty completing a quest / Found a quest bug

  1. Gnarlpine Necklace/Tallonkai's Jewel
  2. The Missing Diplomat - end stages
  3. A Terrible Purpose/Nature's Whisper (pre-1.8)
  4. A Terrible Purpose/Nature's Whisper (1.8)

Gnarlpine Necklace/Tallonkai's Jewel

The Gnarlpine Necklace can be buggy.  Please delete the WDB folder while exited from the program. On restarting the program, the item should be useable. If it is not, abandon the quest and delete the item. Try it again. If the item contuse to be inactive, make another ticket, mentioning the steps that you have taken.

The Missing Diplomat - end stages

The last part of the quest is buggy. It requires that you obtain a quest from Archmage Tervosh. He can sometimes be reset. First, try deleting the WDB folder. If that fails, a GM can try to reset this NPC. Make a ticket if this is needed. This may not work.

A Terrible Purpose/Nature's Whisper (pre-1.8)

The reason that you no longer have that item is that it should not be in-game until patch 1.8. The item was removed from many people's inventories. When the subsequent patch comes, you will be able to complete the quest again and get the item.

A Terrible Purpose/Nature's Whisper (1.8)

The reason that you no longer have that item is that it should not have been in-game until patch 1.8. The item was removed from many people's inventories and the quest was removed from their record. Now that 1.8 is here there is not, currently, a way to take the quest again, and thus get the item. The GM team can only replace rewards based on the quest record.  Bug report. Please try to take the quest again after having deleted the WDB folder. It may well be that a solution is being worked on.

If you have found a quest bug

  1. First, please search our GitHub bug tracker to see if this is a known issue. https://github.com/elysium-project/classic-bug-tracker/issues
  2. If there isn't an issue posted, please post any and all details of the issue on our GitHub bug tracker.
  3. You may also receive GM assistance with the quest, so please also open a GM ticket in-game.
    1. Open a GM ticket by clicking on the red question mark "?" on your mini-bar in game.

Item Restoration / Account Security / Missing Items

Generally speaking, our team can only restore quest items. If you find yourself in need of a restored quest item please do the following;

  1. Open a GM ticket by clicking on the red question mark "?" on your mini-bar in game.
  2. Provide the following information;
    1. The name of the item(s), their IDs, the name of the quest(s) that they relate to. the quest(s) IDs. Each item should be on a separate line.
    2. Example :

      1. Carrot on a Stick 11122  Gahz'rilla 2770

        Blackhand's Breadth 13965 General Drakkisath's Demise 5102

      2. Please note we will check your eligibility for the item. These include but are not limited to Possession of other rewards from the quest - do not try to get two rewards.

    3. Some items are the rewards from different quests, depending on the faction, Blackhand's Breadth is awarded by General Drakkisath's Demise for alliance characters, For The Horde! for horde characters. Ensure that you are providing the correct one.

    4. There are some items that share a name with another, for example, there are six Stormpike Insignia. Make sure that you are asking for the correct one.

    5. The IDs can be obtained from Wowhead or http://db.vanillagaming.org or similar. As an example, in the address bar, if may say http://db.vanillagaming.org/?item=20809#wh-comments - the quest has the ID 20809. Similarly for items.

    6. The quest data in the record shows the item rewarded. Please do not delete one in the hope of being restored the other.

Account Security

If your account has been compromised, the first thing you should do is secure both the account and email related to the account.

You should also enable 2 factor authentication on the website through the control panel main page.

Each user is fully responsible for their account and account security. We do not restore items or characters lost due to hacked or otherwise compromised accounts. This includes account sharing, even if the person you shared the account with is part of your friends or family.

 

Bug Reporting

  1. First, please search our GitHub bug tracker to see if this is a known issue. https://github.com/elysium-project/classic-bug-tracker/issues
  2. If there isn't an issue posted, please post any and all details of the issue on our GitHub bug tracker.
  3. You may also receive GM assistance with the quest, so please also open a GM ticket in-game.
    1. Open a GM ticket by clicking on the red question mark "?" on your mini-bar in game.

Donations / Elysium Coins

If you bought Elysium Coins, but have not received them, please note that it may take up to 72 hours for them to show up.

If you still have not received them;

  1. You may not have added notes to the transaction properly and we don't know who to apply the coins to.
    1. We need your email and account name in the transaction in order to apply coins to your account.
    2. If you did not do this, please join the #support channel on our discord https://discordapp.com/invite/ETazNXS
      1. You will have to post in support and DM one of our support staff after speaking with them in #support. We will need your Email, Account name and transaction ID in order to trace down your order to apply the coins. This could take another 36 hours, so make sure you add this information when you purchase the coins.

Rename / Faction Transfer

If you have recently renamed your character, changed factions, changed race etc. it may behave strangely for some time following the changes. There may be difficulty whispering the character, mailing to it, using the auction house with it, grouping with it and more. These problems will normally go away over the following hours or days or even on the next server restart. It is not predictable. There is nothing that can be done to accelerate the process. Be patient.  It can help if you, and those trying to contact you, delete the WDB folder inside the WoW folder while exited from WoW, not just logged off.
