Vexinski 3 Report post Posted August 9, 2019 (edited) This is just ridiculous to give priority of right to keep original name to an inactive char: Makumba is my lvl 49 tauren shaman, yet I can not log it, because some lvl 1 paladin with 0h of gameplay has "priority". Not cool at all. I understand that's the easy way, I am not amused at all though. Would be more fair to check activity. Same story with my lvl 41 orc warrior MaxDamage There is a duplicate on Nighthaven already. Question is: was it even logged in the last two months ? P.S. I am not risking name change if there are bugs reported by ppl who lost access to their chars/items after administring such change. No way. edit: I've been told there are more important issues to fix and I have to wait on the decision and "may be let to keep my names". What could possibly more important than solving a problem which is preventing a user to play the game ? andersleet 2 Report post Posted August 9, 2019 I am in the same boat and I happen to be the Guild Master. I don’t want my guild mates being confused by a new name
Josy 2 Report post Posted August 9, 2019 Yup same problem here, kinda lame. Inactive players with 1 or 2 min in game play time got my names -_- Also friend lists got messed up, surely due to merge. Now we got a bunch of strangers in friend list and all our friends are no more.
Prosetos 1 Report post Posted August 10, 2019 Hey Maku, same thing happened to me with my chars. Quade, Vajayjay and a bunch of others have to get changed. It is really dumb that the script the dev wrote to merge didnt consider last login timestamp or char lvl. Also it appears to me Elysium does not have a working QA team who would have identified this and other issues before the merge.
Zancon 117 Report post Posted August 10, 2019 Our database is considerably more complicated than you make it sound. We are working on a name reclamation but making the server stable and playable is a higher priority at this moment.
Vexinski 3 Report post Posted August 10, 2019 Just talked to Rain, and got promise to have my issue fixed "in the morning". Waiting...
andersleet 2 Report post Posted August 10, 2019 I just tried to log into the TBC server and getting same issue...some person with limited time played with same name. So seems like the copy and merge of the Classic realms also dicked with the TBC transfer names. I expect a mulligan exception once this BS is sorted out since this issue has carried over from the Classic realm merge (for population) to the TBC realm.
Vexinski 3 Report post Posted August 10, 2019 Oh and one more thing from me: I am NOT leaving for classic, unless you guys force me to it by ignoring such basic requests.
Zancon 117 Report post Posted August 10, 2019 I don't understand why people are getting so hostile. Were working on it as fast as we can, were a small team of volunteers. Be patient.
Wowish 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2019 People are hostile, because the release of TBC was hyped since I've been playing, and there was no mention of character naming that would cause a person to lose the ability to play. Another thing that is very frustrating is that many other's like me expected to be able to play on the previous version of the game if the upgrade went poorly. I expected bugs, but I didn't expect to have the inability to play Vanilla Wow or TBC. Speaking for myself only, I think what you guys are doing is incredible. You all have generated a huge following with what you're doing, and you're creating new content. Kudos! The downside is that there are a lot of committed players that spend their time relaxing playing the game, and all of the things they've enjoyed are no longer available without expectation. I read the threads about mail attachments being lost, so I logged in and mine are gone on the one character I can play. This is happening on Vanilla WoW and TBC. I wasn't using mail as a bank. I just hadn't been on my warrior in a while, and there is a lot of important backlog.
Vexinski 3 Report post Posted August 11, 2019 Got my issue solved. Thank you Rain!
Wowish 0 Report post Posted August 11, 2019 Mine is still not solved. Mailbox still has no attachments and lost two mails after closing them out. My name Darkone still not allowing me to play. Rain, can you help me too?
tazzedo 0 Report post Posted August 13, 2019 So here's what i want to know. IF we go with a different name, because we want to play TBC, and after the server has been stablized can we get a freename change for this inconvenience? I am willing to have my name with another double letter for now but at the very least, later down the line, can we just get a free name change for those who were effected by the merged servers of double names? I mean we just want to play but keep our names. Would LOVE a response if possibl. Thank you
