Mage and Rogue

Hey i haven't really played on many private vanilla servers although i did play on Nost Pve and did a bit of MC raiding as a rogue.

 

I was wondering if anyone could give me advice on the viability on both classes from MC - Naxx on being atleast mid level in the meters and doing relatively well in solo pve content.

 

I was also wondering which of the classes would be cheaper to maintain consumables for to be at least competitive raiding even if im not a total min maxer cause i still work atleast 40 hours a week and have some other obligations.

 

Any advice would be great as i try to hash out what i want to try on the fresh realm , never started with a fresh server before so excited about that. Also if anyone here has experience with both classes and has time to have a more indepth chat about the two classes let me know in a pm. Just want to get as much of a headstart as i can in knowledge before the servers start to roll out.

Rogues and mages perform well, and are not difficult to gear.  They both are good for dropping/keeping aggro low through abilities or threat reduction talents.

 

Rogue combat swords.   For PVE go Human alli or Orc/Troll horde.   Best raiding consumables can get expensive.   Farming isn't hard solo, but can't AoE farm like a mage so GPH (gold per hour) is more random and based on what drops.

 

 

Mages  Arcane frost until AQ releases then Fire mage.  They are good at farming for Gold and consumables are not that bad, a little bit cheaper than Warlock.

 

You should see the class specific forums start to fill up as server launch day(s) get closer, keep an eye on those for any specific information you need.

If you had to choose between just those two classes, and as you say you are new to vanilla servers, I highly recommend you go mage.

 

Reasonable to level (incredible if you get to aoe farm, but that will be unlikely on a server with this player density)

 

Very versatile, can make food/water, portals.

 

Very good farming class, so gold should never be a problem.

 

Ranged, caster which is damn good for both lag an convenience. No "I am out of range" spam ever if the server starts to have delay.

 

Incredible dps in raids, arguably the best class for PvPing solo or grouped.

 

What ever you choose I am pretty sure you will have fun either way. Rogues are pretty cool too

Mages are awesome, good in pvp, good in pve, good at leveling, great at aoe farming etc etc.
