World chat in Elysium PVP

I like making different Chat Tabs.

 

World Chat and LFG are in a separate tab than the main chat/trade/party tab area, so when I need to use it I just tab over, no problemo. I usually have a separate Whisper Tab as well, since if I'm raiding of PvPing I miss all kinds of tells.

World chat is the best. If there's a huge 100 person army racing towards XR, I want to know about it! Plus, since we'll all be averaging the same level, it's going to be a bloody epic world battle. And trust me, there's going to be some seriously epic world battles on this server.

hey, i was just wondering if you could make this server different this time, or would i say more authentic

 

I played back in vanilla in 2006, and basically like 2% isch of the population actually tapped into  /world or /global (or other counterparts), for the simple reason that they didnt know they existed. The only channels people talked on were /1 (general) /g (guild) /2 (trade) /p, /s etc. you get my point.

 

What i mean is that people today who started at wotlk and later xpacs are so used to the concept of the server-wide world chat that they think its always been there (again, it probably was even in vanilla, but perhaps like 2 or 1 or 5% used it). In order to make THIS release be more authentic than f.ex Feenix (warsong), Kronos, Feenix(ED), 1st release of Nost etc-My idea is therefore to restrict use of any world chat if possible until at least many people are 60 and settled.

 

The pros of this will be that the world will feel maybe 3,5,10 times larger when (as it were) faced with the reality of only being able to talk to and recruit people for various enterprises in the land/area you´re currently in (f.ex durotar). If flying mount "decreased" the size of the world in TBC, so did the world chat phenomenon when it broke through in like wotlk

 

Whats the general take on this guys? Guild/party/say/general/trade only

 

Everyone jumping straight into world chat will make it feel less vanilla imo, less 2005/2006. Also, more focus on playing the game and less on squabbling about trump and isis. It will also create the awesome Barrens chat again ;DDD when ur already tapped into world chat, the barrens chat wont be AS groovy, lemme reframe myself, With the world chat, the (im?)famous Barrens chat wont be as SPECIAL. for good or bad

 

 

I really appreciate your idea and would love to see that realized.

Or restrict it to lvl 60 for maybe 1 msg per day idk.

This would bring ppl together like in old times.

Say, if you want to find a group or find members, you will go to the capital or at least a main city for the trade chat.

ps i didnt read the other guys until now. its hell of disappointing to read so much crap (in all the forum sections not just here). it makes me realize that also you older guys, guess most of us are 30+ since we played back on 2004? - are immature retards.

and not that i want to say you shouldn't be childish. just dont blame everyone for your own stupidity. it makes me sad and maybe quit elysium before i even take the start... i hate the human species. i respect you if you hate me and everyone, too. but ваууing keep it for yourself, would you?

World chat is fine, Just leave it when you don't want to hear people With the Nost pop you normally didn't always need world to join groups trade troll Etc. Honestly there was an addon alot of people started using near the end of nost... Vque for somthing i hope that mod maker comes back, it was great.

vQueue is still around, not sure if the mod maker is coming back or not but I know it still works on 1.12.1 servers.

Should still be fine.

I'm right with you on this, the reason other servers started promoting /world was because they were too small for people to easily connect with eachother so they made sense, but these servers are double the size of high pop 2005/2006 servers... But the people here make good points, other servers have messages when you log on that say "Type "/join world" to join world chat," if Elysium avoids that it's probably the best we'll see.

 

I suggest someone makes a custom channel called "/small" or something for a less frequented world chat maybe. Or possibly even a "/meme" chat to filter out some of the typical spam.
