Is the translation of profanity from English to Russian in forum posts here to stay? It seems a little condescending.

I think it's intended as humorous since the words are replaced with their polite russian versions.

I actually find it a little annoying, because it makes it difficult to tell what someone was trying to say in some cases.

We're all adults here (Hopefully), I don't think we need to be censoring swears.

 

Even so, it's pretty easy to get around it by using accented letters.

Agreed. We're all adults so we don't need curse words to communicate - and if we do say "you piece of фекал" - it's pretty obvious what it's supposed to be. No skin off my nose, and in the meantime I get to pretend like I an learning another language.
