My expectations are high for playing the Warcraft I was never able to play. I started in BC before the Sunwell patch released. During the last half of BC I spent most of my time re-rolling character trying to understand each class to find one I'm comfortable with playing.

 

I started off playing a Warlock until lvl 50, then rerolled a Warrior and played that all throughout Wrath. Then in Cata lvled an 85 Priest and 85 Hunter which I played all through Pandaria and WOD. At the end of WOD I had finally had enough of Blizzards lies and lore alterations so I refused to buy Legion and have quit playing WOW. I was thinking about buying Legion once it goes on sale but it seems pointless now. 

 

My expectations are high for an Epic Vanilla experience but the reality is I don't have as much free time as I had in 2008-2010. I remember how it took me a full morning and afternoon to move out of starter zones and move into the next territory and how gaining XP was no easy grind. Mounts at 40 and no flying mounts will be difficult. After being experienced in the game and reading many guides I feel more prepared for this world that was once foreign and unfamiliar to me. 

 

Thanks to people in Discord I've had some rich conversations about classes and their abilities which will be important in End Game and PVP. The only thing I'm waiting for now are the servers to go live and jump in with friends.

Yeah, that free time... I know it's going to take me at least a month to get to 60, probably longer, definitely longer if I don't play a character that can stealth.

I'm thinking the same thing. I read somewhere it took a Warlock main over 300 hours to reach 60. The soulstone will come in handy in wipe situations, but stealth classes would be much more useful for a person whose AFK often.

So sweet, sucks i gotta work that day, go find our buddies! Although Day 1 is going to be messy, just because of how many people will roll there to get their fix for the fresh.

ahh the LoTR Elrond blessing!! I <3 it! 

 

I think people tend to make Vanilla sound like it was a grind. It's not really a grind. I mean, leveling wise. You can easily average a level or more a day. So that is at most 60 days. To me that's not grindy. I played Lineage 2 (Moghedien - Bartz Server) for years and when the game was first released the first person to reach max level took 8-9 months. That game was a grind. I remember logging in and playing about 6 hours just killing the same mobs over and over and over. I was a Spell Howler an I would round up a bunch of Drakes and drop meteor storm on them (AoE leveling baby!). I would get maybe 5% of a level in 1 hour if I was being good that day. Then an assassin would pop out of stealth and gank/kill me in like 1 second... and I would lose maybe 1.8%. Then I'd play another 45 minutes get to 7.5% gain on the day and get ganked again and be at 5.7% after 1 hour and 45 minutes of play time Then get camped / ganked 3 times in a row.. and be at .5% xp gain over the last 2 and 1/2 hours.    Then log off and /facedesk. hehe
