leveling running 5-mans only - which server?

Recommended Posts

yo.  i'd like to level to 60 running 5-mans only - not really interested in questing throughout the world it gets old pretty fast.  my guess is that the pve server would be the better place to do this, or am i wrong?  i'm a bit worried that most people will flock to the pvp servers, and therefore all in all there will ironically be more 5 mans running there than on the pve server.  i haven't played wow since '07 so i need some insight on which server to run to.

also, does elysium support any kind of dungeon finder mod, or are finding groups strcitly through chat channels only?

Classic wow had NO dungeon finder. You'd be finding groups via chat channels and guild. Keep in mind the dungeon finder was one of the key earlier things that lead to the downfall of what we loved in wow and older mmorpgs as it killed the community and made building a rep as a great tank, healer, cc, and so on near worthless.

This also means it will be difficult to grind doing dungeons only unless your able to find another proper group wanting to do the same thing that you become best buddies with. Your considering the time it takes to run places on foot (until 40+) along with often needing a proper group of a war tank, a proper healer (not dps that can heal), a cc (mage usually), and then your assorted dps unlike now you just run in and wing it with whatever is available and massive dps. If someone leaves it may take 20 minutes to find a replacement and 20 minutes for them to arrive during peak playtimes even.

Exceptions will apply of course as some dungeons like deadmines and a few others will likely stay busy while many in the mid levels may be slowish.

...and running the same dungeon 6 times to get 1 level, doesn't get old fast?

But eh, if you want to take 3 months to get to 60, more power to you.

Happy Cats is right on this, the xp is ABYSMAL, other than the first time you run it with quest xp rewards.

Assuming you don't have to travel too far you can easily get a full level in open world as opposed to a few bars, MAYBE half a level in the time it takes to clear a dungeon.

I agree with you you that questing solo gets old, I also prefer dungeons. At most do it twice for some items and move on.

If you want to level with any kind of speed, the keyword is quests.

thanks for the replies, guys.  i know that the dungeon grinding can take time, but i just like playing with other peeps and having that teamwork aspect between us.  i did this with modern wow a few years ago and was disappointed - you all know why.

i'll just give it a shot and see where it takes me.  i'm really in no rush to get to 60 - none of my friends play wow anymore and i don't have any guild invitations being shot my way lol.

i'd appreciate if you guys could tell me which server would be better for it, though.  thanks.

Vanilla has plenty of elite/group quests, you will be grouping up with people in every leveling area in order to complete these. Furthermore, some normal quests are hard and are usually best to do between 2 people. This version of the game encourages you to group up and socialise.
