Phanxy 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 (edited) Hello there, Great work on the new servers. I have a problem with my characters name after the transfer. I played on Elysium with my character named Hanx. When I transfered him I suspected there might be someone from old Nost who claimed the name. But when I tried to log in on launch day an error said that my name was violating the naming rules. Not that the name wasn't available. I looked up the naming rules. It didn't seem like I was violating any of them. I thought this might mean that my character name was taken even if it didn't say so until I spoke with Pottu on discord. He said that it should be telling me if that was the case. He said to wait but the day after I had to log in to let people in my guild know I was there. Now I have a name I'm not too fond of. Is it possible that someone could make a quick investigation into what happend? I would really like my old name back if it is available. thunderleaf 0 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 (edited) Hmm... Same thing happened to almost all my chars (that was moved from the Elysium realm). "Thunderlight" I changed to "Thundertouch""Guldbank" I changed to "Guldbankk""Quizmaster" I changed to "Quizzmaster"Notice: I have the name "Guldbank" on a horde char, but still got "naming violating" on the ally char with the same name and had to change it... maybe the "naming violating" message is bugged and should be "that name is already taken"!.... But then again "Thunderlight" was a "violating" name it said.... I really don't see anything wrong with the name ... ( And it doesn't look like anyone used that name on the old Nost according to http://realmplayers.com/CharacterList.aspx?search=Thunderlight&realm=NRB ) so ye the Character renaming thingy is acting a bit weird! Lets hope someone from staff can clarify things... And if possible... give us the correct old names back !I am 100% with you on the part that: "I would really like my old name back if it is available.". Lorilay 12 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 Pretty sure that's just how they set up name overlaps between Elysium and Nostalrius (Nost characters take priority and you have to rename yours).
Mimma 10 Report post Posted December 20, 2016 What Aawy says. I think this is the only way Nostalrius' can force a name change, and although the given textual message is not good, it is at least working.
Fizzle 1 Report post Posted December 21, 2016 Pretty sure that's just how they set up name overlaps between Elysium and Nostalrius (Nost characters take priority and you have to rename yours). It's probably more likely that whoever transfers their characters first gets the name priority.
Phanxy 0 Report post Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) Well, Lorilay and Mimma thats what we are suspecting. But as you said Mimma, the client says something different. As I wrote in my initial post I tried to contact a GM about it. I asked in #help-and-support on discord: "@Pottu Does the error massage: Your name has been found to be in violation of the naming rules actually mean more than what it says? Like can it also mean that someone took your name?" Too which he answered: "@Hanx No, shouldn't mean that" Later I requested a private conversation with him where he told me to wait a bit so it might be sorted. It was a busy night so it is understandable if he was wrong. So what we are trying to do here is to get some clarification on the matter. From our point of view it looks like some error has occurred which has lead to our characters being flagged for renaming. Because our names didn't seem to be violating any rules when playing on Elysium. Also our characters names aren't listed anywhere on old Nost character records. The only causes left is indeed like you say some account from Nost (that aren't listed anywhere) claimed the names. OR that some unrelated error is blocking the names. Edited December 21, 2016 by Phanxy
Fizzle 1 Report post Posted December 21, 2016 Also our characters names aren't listed anywhere on old Nost character records. It might be worth checking the current database for your names. For example, on realmplayers, my mage doesn't appear even without the filters.
Lorilay 12 Report post Posted December 21, 2016 (edited) It's probably more likely that whoever transfers their characters first gets the name priority. They already announced that Nostalrius accounts have priority on all naming conflicts. It's worth noting that realmplayers is by no means a complete database. As long as they were logged into at least once at some point, they will be in the Nostalrius database. For them to show up in realmplayers, they need to be seen by someone running the Realmplayers addon. None of my bank alts show up in realmplayers, for example.
