Looting at same time?

I remember on nostalrius being in a party of two in having to countdown on loot quests to click an item at same time to both get loot. Having tried multiple times on elysium is this now patched or is there way?

Its down to a quest, there are quests that leave quest items on bodies for both players. There are quests that drop them 1 by 1.

If you need to kill a named Mob for a quest and loot his head/heart/whatever, everybody in the group can loot the item and complete the quest. Unaffected by loot settings, I believe.

 

If the item is obtained from a regular (unamed) mob or object it usally gives out only one item that can be looted by one person in a group. Affected by loot settings, I believe. Note; some objects seem to respawn faster than others.

Eh I dislike that it got fixed it discourages grouping which sucks, but the same can be said about how experience gets divided vs solo. Either way you couldn't loot more then one quest item except named from one kill so its blizz like.

It depends on the quest too. If the drop rate is high it isn't too bad because you sort of know going in how long it will take. It's potentially a nightmare on bad drop rates though. I joined a 5 man group last night knocking out some quests that included drops, and it wasn't bad at all since the drop rate was decent. Plus you get to have fun killing with some friends, grinding out some extra exp, and maybe even grab a nice green drop or two in the process.
