Re-release Names on non-transferred accounts

On the old Nostalrius server, many people reserved names. The large population in conjunction with this makes it fairly difficult to come up with meaningful names or references without butchering them with misspellings or ascii characters.

 

I propose that all names of characters below level 10 on accounts that are not transferred over to the new Elysium servers before a certain date (sometime in January?) be re-released for general use.

You can't use ASCII in names anymore, every char I had with ASCII got flagged for rename.

Whether or not you can use ASCII characters is irrelevant to the topic, it was just an example of what people did on the previous server. Please don't let it distract from the intended suggestion.

Indeed they should release the names of inactive and untransferred characters.

I wouldn't mind all levels being released. My dang rogue is stuck unable to be retrieved with the name I've used for years on everything, but the process for trying to get it back seems so convoluted I don't even want to try. Maybe release the names but not the characters themselves? I've seen a private server do that before. Make all un-transferred characters be renamed some gibberish and require a re-name. Then if anyone does transfer their characters this late in the game, the worst that happens is they lose their name, but at least not their character.

It is way too soon to even do this even if it was to happen.

We are not going to release such names in near future. Token generation will be fixed and more players will transfer their characters over.
