Will we eventually be allowed to port in the new druid/tauren models?

Recommended Posts

I'm not even sure if we can, at current.

The ToU doesn't explicitly say we can't, but it does mention editing the game code/files. Basically, I'd like to be able to play a tauren druid without looking like a slack-jawed wingless manticore, or play a tauren at all. (I know, I know, 'it's the vanilla experience' and I'm obsessed with aesthetics, you're right on both counts)

That would be more of a question, so here's a suggestion: If we currently cannot, I'd like to be able to. Even if it came in a 'Admin-approved but do it yourself' patch, being able to use those models would greatly increase my enjoyment of druids and tauren. I'm sure plenty of players feel similarly about the new models.

Would the anti-cheat even allow that? IDEK how it works on this server.

And If I'm just out of the loop and we -are- already allowed to do this, please feel free to give me an informational smackdown.

I'm a huge supporter of an eventual whitelisting of the necessary MPQ files to process these changes. As it stands, however, it is not allowed and if you use them it will most likely lead to an eventual ban by the Warden, which is the automated anti-cheat system. Do note that there is some speculation regarding the issue of the Warden actually being able to pick up any changes, as some people have claimed to have been able to use these edited files without any restriction or consequence, but take these to heart at your own risk. On a final note, I don't believe we will see this rule change in the near future, for there is a lot of other things that the team should focus their attention, time and manpower on, but it's a suggestion I'll keep on giving them, from time to time.
