cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 2, 2017 (edited) I have updated our thread with our current class needs. We are currently in desperate need of Priests, particularly of the Dwarven variety. The token Ret Paladin, Feral and Shadow Priest spots (required to raid as healer until the debuff limit raises to 16) are, somehow, unclaimed. Secure coveted raiding spots for these detested builds while you can! Edited January 4, 2017 by cybaster
Gadget 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2017 Hello. I'm Steph, a friend and old FF14 static team member of Cybaster's. I was a main tank there, and will also be gunning for the same position on WoW. I have practically 0 experience with WoW, as I've only spent maybe 2 days in the game over 10 years ago. I never really started playing MMOs seriously (as in raiding and фекал) until fairly recently with FF14. I found that I enjoyed the teamwork and coordination that goes along with it, and I think I play a pretty good tank. I'm excited to give WoW another shot, because back then I didn't really have friends to play with, and was overwhelmed by how large the world was. Now that I have pretty good experience with raiding and how MMOs work in general, I should be able to pick things up quickly enough...especially after I pester Cybaster with a million questions because I'm too lazy to google it myself. And also because if he wants me to be his reliable main tank, he'll be my personal search engine. MWAHAHA! Anyway, just here to say hi to all my future teammates. :) I'm excited to work with you guys! Let's do awesome things!
cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 2, 2017 Catashtrophe countermeasure bump. I was hoping I'd never have to resort to that word, but when one person is necrobumping clumps of 20 threads on to the front page, desperate measures are called for.
cottons 0 Report post Posted January 2, 2017 I'll go priest dwarf, of course :)
cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 Nice. Thanks, Cotton! We're heavy on gnomes and dwarves so far, so you won't have any trouble finding people to group with in the starting areas. And Stephy baby, you've already cut your teeth in content ten times as difficult as anything WoW vanilla will throw at you, up until the tail end of Naxxaramus. Honestly, Naxx didn't have anything as complicated as this: Because all of the raids were balanced around getting 40 people to do things right, the skill demand on individuals was much lower. Even the infamous Four Horsemen wasn't as complex, when you look at it in terms of reaction time and skill demands on an individual, as this, and it was the guild breaker of its time.
drifter 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) Howdy - Drifter here, I'm looking to go Nelf Rogue and planning on a mix of PvP and raiding. Looks like you have a good plan to get things rolling and it would be something I would be interested in joining and helping out with. I've been playing off an on since Vanilla, although only on live servers. Currently playing on live, but bored to death of Legion however. I skipped Pandas entirely but played most of the other expansions. Generally I've been patiently waiting for a live Vanilla server but it seems its not to be, so I've heard good things about Nost & Elysium want to give it a shot. In short this will be my first private server. My vanilla experience is limited since it was 10 years ago. Back in the day we did MC, ZG, Ony and a mishmash of BWL and AQ20/40. I never did the original Naxx. This is one of the reasons I'm interested in playing on Vanilla along with general nostalgia and a need for challenge. I've no problems farming 5 mans, BGs, and doing raids. I have a fair amount of time on my hands because of the nature of the job so I will be keeping trying keep ahead of the curve for gearing and attainment. Also I just like the name Hurricane. Thanks! cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 Hey Drifter, you sound like our kind of guy. You going to try to snipe a login when the server just goes up? It'd be great to have somebody else to push the nelf starting zone with. I've got the my route down to a science, but I'll need somebody with me to do the relics quest ahead of the curve. Either way, welcome aboard! PM'd you a link to our discord.
drifter 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 Yeah, I will try to snag that logon if I can. My current plan is something like this until 5ish: https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/24696-lf-exploration-leveling-guide-1-4ish/?page=2#comment-282693 Then Teldrassil and some of Dark Shore. I'll definitely help push! I'm at work at the moment but I'll add the Discord link when I can - thanks!
cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 Have you compared the exploration run to just killing animals? I did a little bit of both on the old servers, and the dynamic respawn system native to these servers was sufficient to make killing viable 1-5 even when the servers first came up. My experience with that was in the gnome/dwarf starting area, so it may be different for us as nelfs.
drifter 0 Report post Posted January 3, 2017 (edited) Grinding may be better, sure. I'm just assuming the worst case and I like the idea of getting FPs I need anyhow. I joined the discord btw (listed as Ash). Thanks! Edited January 3, 2017 by drifter

Lopezdaheavy 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Hi there, I'm new to the Nost/ Elysium servers but I have been playing WoW in some way shape or form since '05. I started playing around the end of Vanilla so of course like most of the community I never got a chance to fully experience this world. I have started raiding at the end of TBC and have continued to do so in every expansion, minus Pandaria. I'm currently thinking about playing a priest, comfortable healing since Wrath, or hunter, brand new for me. I hope to be able to join you guys in this nostalgic adventure to bring me back to my teenage years. Thanks!
RaidNaked 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 I would like an invite to your Discord, I plan on playing a hunter main NE, and am looking for a group to level with and convert into raiding, I like that you are using DKP and not loot council, i'd like to discuss
Kurupt 8 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 What's the raid schedule? I'm struggling to find a late night (8pm+ PST) raid guild myself, even after compiling the master list.
cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Hey, thanks for posting, spicy, Lopez, raid and Kurupt! In sequential order: spicyboy, we're big on communication. I can't promise you it won't be a problem if you join, but if you can make yourself understood for basic MMO stuff, and understand me in the same way, that's good enough for me. I'm more than happy to give it a try. Lopezdaheavy, I liked TBC's raids. They weren't too far off of how Vanilla was designed, besides being a little smaller, obviously. Our priest and hunter count has mostly evened out, so feel free to pick your favorite. RaidNaked, yeah, I chose DKP because it just tends to make people happier. I should warn you that legendaries are loot counciled (not like Hunters had any in vanilla lol), but everything else is just DKP with simple priorities; i.e. Hunters can override a Warrior trying to bid on a bow, so loot is distributed efficiently. I'm of the opinion that loot council systems are really only justifiable when you're pushing for server firsts, which I don't plan on. Kurupt, I'm hesitant to commit exact hours just yet. I was going to hold off until we were all nearing 60, but membership is taking off more quickly than I expected. I can say some certainty it'll fall within a 6-8 PM PST starting time on some combination of Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. I'm mostly seeing preference towards the 8 PM end, but I need to poll a few key players on their availability before I can give you a concrete answer. Feel free to join for a bit, no one will hassle you if you find a better match and want to change boats. Anyway, PM'd you all with our Discord info!
Strangebrew 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Hello Cybaster. I've just finished reading through your guild add and <Hurricane> looks like a good fit for me. I live in British Columbia, Canada so I'm in the PST time zone. I played WoW from the open beta weekend till just before Wrath was released. I leveled a Holy priest on Nost (from 1 to 60 holy...I'm a masochist) but I think dwarf holy paladin will be my choice for Elysium PvP. It just seems like they have a better tool set for PvP healing and support. Looking forward to this Saturday. Cheers, Strangebrew
Zodiac 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Hey Cybaster, I just looked through all of the Alliance guilds; and while I am still not 100% on what I want to play (trying to see which classes are most needed), I do believe I would like to be part of <Hurricane>. Will probability go with Human Rogue(never had a high level rogue), Gnome Warrior(I think everyone is playing warrior), Druid(always been a fan of feral, it is just not good for raids) or Caster DPS (I see Mages are low demand)... I know, not close to picking... I first played Wow back in spring 2005, had leveled a Pally and Mage to 60 and raided into BWL before BC. I played most of the early expansions, have not touched it since whatever came after the pandas. I am looking forward to starting a new server for the first time and looking for a solid guild for that journey. I figure any guild who claims the first general subforum is a winner to me. I will be there Saturday! -Zodiac
Rondait 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Howdy Cybaster, I recently started a character on Elysium to see what all the hype was about...and wow, it's a blast. After leveling for a little bit I heard about the fresh start servers opening up this weekend and I couldn't be more excited. I've always played as Horde on retail so I decided to go ahead and level as Alliance for something different this time around. After looking through the large list of Alliance guilds I found yours and I don't think it could be a greater fit for me if it tried, and as such I would love an invite to your discord to meet everyone. I played through all of Wrath, Dragon Soul and the current Legion raids in retail WoW so I do have some raiding experience but vanilla will still be new to me. If your Ret Paladin slot is still open I'd love to play that, but if it isn't I'm more than happy to play as a Holy Paladin. Either way I would like to level as a human. I look forward to your response, and no matter the answer can't wait to play on the server with you all.
cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Welcome, Strangebrew, Zodiac and Rondait! Strangebrew, I think you'll enjoy Paladin in that role. Between blessing of protection and divine shield, Pallies are really good at denying kills. They're probably my favorite healer to group with pvp for that reason. Zodiac, any of those choices can work at this point. When I saw low demand, that means I've got one or two spots left. If there's really too many I'll change it to full. If you want a good leveling time and good raiding prospects, I'd go rogue or mage. Feral druid is fun to play, but, well, y'know. We do have our token feral spot open though, so it's an option! Warrior is terrible to level but great at the end. Rondait, our token ret spot is still available, so you have your choice. As for Wrath, like many others, that was the last expansion I mostly enjoyed. I'm not a fan of multiple difficulties on raids (which Wrath introduced) for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that they rob the majority of the player base from the motivation to try the stuff on top. Saw that constantly in FF14. Anyway, I've PM'ed you all our Discord info. There's a meeting today discussing our launch day plans and some other stuff, too. Info is in the PM. Looking forward to playing with you!
Selvic 0 Report post Posted January 4, 2017 Hello, Cybaster. I'm new to WoW and generally any mmorpg. I have being looking that shares similar mindset and you guys sure fits some of mine. I have no problems with the times since I'm in the CST zone, though I might only Tuesday and Thursday. I don't know about the race selection but I do plan on choosing priest since I played around at little today with the classes and I just like the priest. -Selvic
Sidehug 0 Report post Posted January 5, 2017 Hi my name is mike and I have been looking for a good community for a long time to relive the days in wow when I had the most fun. Willing to play whatever is needed but want to main a dwarf holy pally (you guys like buffs right? lol) as I did back in real vanilla. I look forward to getting to chat with you guys and building a lasting home if invited.
cybaster 31 Report post Posted January 5, 2017 Hey Selvic, and Sidehug! Selvic, what sorts of games do you like to play, generally? Do you have any experience using voice chat for gaming? I heavily emphasize that. You might find the environment a little oppressive if you're not used to playing with others exclusively. There's a lot of guilds around that'll let you do your own thing, and while I consider HUR newbie friendly, this recruitment is mostly targeting people with experience in WoW or MMOs in general, and are used to playing in groups. That said, if you're still interested after reading this, and believe you're a good fit anyway, I'll toss you an invite. Just let me know. Sidehug, I'd love another veteran holy pally. They're invulnerable beacons of healing justice.

I mainly played on Stronghold Kingdoms (mmorts) and a few of the Total War Games. I don't use voice chat a lot except during meetings and when there is a war on Stronghold Kingdoms, which is very often and long especially when my group have to create shift to monitor the war. Lately I have being looking for more games that are oriented towards team gameplay. I won't have a problem in adjusting with voice chat though it will just getting to learn to play as a team in a mmorpg setting rather than a mmorts since there is a lot more stuff to know in a mmorpg game. So if you guys are willing to teach me, I'm all about this game since one of my favorite reviewers on twitch kept talking about vanilla WoW. If not, well send me in the right direction?
