Playstyles / Ability usage while leveling?

Recommended Posts

People seem very knowledgeable about specs to use while leveling, but I rarely see people actually describe what you're supposed to do during combat. Like, what stance to be in, how to approach mobs, what rotation / priority to use, etc.

Right now I'm 41 and Arms spec, and I'm wondering, should I be in Battle Stance or Berserker Stance, for most of the time? Typically I just stay in Battle all the time, Charge in and then autoattack / MS / Overpower until the mob is dead. Sometimes finishing with an Execute. Does that sound about right?

Should I sit in Berserker, however? I've got my bars set up so I can easily swap between the two stances for things like Overpower and Pummel. I'm just not sure if the 3% crit outweighs the 10% increased damage taken, in the long run.

Pre 40:  OP > Rend > Heroic Strike

Post 40: OP > MS

When you fight more than one mob, charge (if you can) pop sweeping strikes > Beserker stance > Blood Rage > Whirl Wind > Beserker Rage > Battle Stance > OP /MS.

Only Rend post 40 on high armor targets at start of fight when MS is on CD and if excess rage.

Ah, right.

So yeah, I've got it just about right, pretty much just autoattacking and MS'ing, and hitting Overpower when it procs.

Should I be in Battle or Berserker? I can easily swap over to Battle for Overpower procs.

If you are grinding lower level mobs that are low armor and will die fast, go Beserker stance on those mobs.  If the mob you are fighting will take a bit longer to kill and does more melee damage to you, then stay in battle stance.
