Molotov's handy FAQ - For all (some of?) your various problems

Greetings everyone,

I have noticed that in Discord and all over this forum there is are constantly the same questions asked. So, to save everyone repeating 'Look at the pinned posts', I will make this thread and link it to everyone who asks the same questions.

Q1. Help! I cannot speak in chat! Have I been banned?
A. No, you have not been banned. You are either not high enough level to Whisper or use region chat, or more likely - You are muted by either a GM for something you said in chat or for making some joke about gold farmers referencing URL's etc... which the automatic spam and gold spam protection has detected and muted you.

What you need to do: Wait, these are never permanent mutes. Relax, it happens, feel free to come back tomorrow, if it is still an issue in 24 hours then put in a ticket.

Generally it shouldn't last more than an hour.

Q2. My account has been Closed, wtf?
A. That means your account has been banned, likely due to it being compromised or using VPN's/IP's from random countries around the world which looks a lot like a hacker has your account. Other common reasons include:
 - Buying gold or power-leveling services
 - Account was compromised and used for selling, messaging, or trafficking for gold sellers
 - Use of 3rd party programs or similar (Bots, hacks, Anti-AFK scripts etc)
 - Any other breach of the ToS (https://forum.elysium-project.org/topic/21966-terms-of-use-rules-regulations/)

What you need to do:

Depending on the reason for the ban, you may or may not be able to get your account unbanned. If you really did something wrong then you will find it very hard to convince the GM team to unban it.

1. Change your password (You need to logout of your control panel first, this is your ingame account)
2. Read the ban appeal information
3. Submit a ban appeal (You need to be logged in, this is your forum account)

IMPORTANT: Forum account is NOT linked or related to your ingame account.

Tips: Be patient, don't place multiple ban appeals (it slows it all down) and only staff can see the appeal once posted. Investigation and response take time.

Q3. I put in a ban appeal an hour ago, still no response?! WHY?
A. Sorry, when I said patience... I meant days, not hours. Not even Blizz does these things in less than 24 hours. Every ban appeal has to be investigated manually, one at a time by a staff member. There are not many staff compared to the hundreds of thousands of active accounts, tickets also have to be answered. So right now, patience is your one and only option. Crying in Discord will not help you and you cannot skip the queue.

P.S. Mouthing off about the staff and how terrible they, the server, the service or similar are... won't help you either. Just remember they are volunteers on a free server, cut them some slack for things taking a while.

What you need to do: Relax. Play some other games for a few days, you will survive. Check back every day or so just to see if it was a temp ban and check your appeal for responses.

Q4. I try to join the server and it just says 'Disconnected', what do I do?
A. This one is a complicated one as several things can cause it. Try each step in order and move to the next if it doesn't solve the issue.

What you need to do: 

1. Check the realm status and ensure the servers are actually online. If it is online then make sure you exit WoW before doing each of the following steps.

2. Go to your WoW folder and edit 'realmlist.wtf' with notepad - Ensure that is says:

set realmlist logon.elysium-project.org

If that fails then use the direct IP (DNS servers are sometimes down at peak times):

set realmlist 164.132.233.125

Save and then close, then launch WoW.

3. Look in your WTF folder for a file called 'config.WTF' and edit it in notepad. There are a bunch of lines of settings in there, you need to look for these two lines starting with SET realmList and SET realmName. Ensure that those lines read exactly as follows: (They may not be next to each other in the file, where they are doesn't matter)

SET realmList "logon.elysium-project.org"
SET realmName "Zeth'Kur"

Save and then close, then launch WoW. If you are confused here is what my config.WTF says, you can copy that over yours if you wish: Click here (Warning everything is on max settings, so if you play on a lemon computer it may really struggle to load. Just remember that WoW dates back to 2004 so the max settings are not all that demanding)

4. Failing the above working, delete your WTF and WDB folders (completely), they will be remade when WoW is relaunched (these effectively wipe all WoW settings). Then when connecting follow these pictures to ensure that you DO NOT JOIN THE QA TEST REALM'S:

5. Still no luck? Check your firewall and Anti-Virus settings, many people had WoW blocked, in the vault or hadn't allowed WoW to access the internet. You need to allow that, obviously. You computer will vary greatly from mine so I am unlikely to be able to assist you with this step.

6. That is about everything I can think of that would cause this problem - At this point it is certainly something wrong on your computer but my crystal ball cannot tell me what is wrong. Sorry.

Q5. Says my login credentials are incorrect???
A. This is an easy one, check your CAPS LOCK and that you have the account name right. Take it slow and try again.
If you are new: Give your account 15 minutes to create on the server. Additionally, a forum account is NOT a game account. You must create a game account here.

Q6. ALL THE DOWNLOADS ARE MISSING? HELP!?
A. Yeah, Blizz keeps reporting the downloads. Here are some that I believe still work (Thanks to 'Kite' from Discord)

A. Yeah, that sucks. But feel bad for the people who had their accounts hacked and characters used to do it... and probably won't get any of their stuff back either.

Q8. Where are my transferred characters? (Or loot etc)
A. Sorry, looks like you are going to have to earn it again. Nostalrius has refused to allow anyone else to transfer anything since their announcement. This sucks but is what it is... and will not be changing.

Q9. My character is naked and has no gear! HELP!
A. Sorry to say this but your account has been compromised, probably from the unknown DB that was hacked/leaked a few weeks ago. Just be glad that your account isn't banned! Change your password and get to work, unfortunately at this stage the GM's are not returning gear from such attacks because there have been so many of them and the majority are because people used the same credentials on all servers they have and currently play on (not very sensible).

Q10. Name is unavailable.
A. Means that name is taken, choose a different one. There are tens of thousands of active accounts and probably 100,000 or more actual accounts so you may find getting the exact name you want very hard. Just keep trying different things, plenty of options out there.

Q11. Stuck at Authenticating!
A. This is because at present the login server is being hammered by numerous people attempting to login and it simply cannot process all the connections (This normally happens after restarts or crashes). So your connection is 'On hold' but that hold times out. Thus, after a while if your request to login is not serviced it will say "Disconnected". There is no fix, simply try again every 30 seconds or so. Getting in is a bit about luck really.

Q12. Disconnected from the queue, WTF!? Now I have to go back to the back of the queue.
A. Yeah, that really sucks. You should restart your client after this happens, which the Devs (and personal experience) says it should help but perhaps not fix the issue. Elysium is busier than it has ever been with the new launch, you will have to bare with them. It really sucks but there is no magic way to fix it, sorry :(

Update: Queues are now much smaller, you may wish to consider playing on the New-new server: Zeth'Kur which has been launched and still has no queue (even) at primetime.

Q13. My activation email is not sent?
A. This is a complex one, if you use a microsoft service (Outlook, Hotmail etc) then they have blacklisted the emails from Elysium. Otherwise, you need to whitelist Elysium emails.

Q14. Stuck on receiving realmlist.
A. This is roughly the same as Q11 but it means the account has authenticated but cannot get through to the login server (to get the realmlist) you should keep trying or try at a time which isn't primetime. Primetime seems to be between 1700 and 2400 (GMT+1) but there are queues of various lengths at the moment for Elysium PvP around the clock. Just smaller outside that window and the login server is never as bad when most people are through it and simply in queue. Restarts (and crashes) cause horrible problems for the login server. Remember this is not a Blizzard server and they do not have Blizzard code for the server - It is a set of code created by Nostalrius to emulate it so there will be some issues. Blizz had very similar issues with every Expansion launch, PTR launch and original Vanilla launch itself. Please be patient (I know it is hard).

Added direct IP (set realmlist 164.132.233.125) to original, as DNS servers are currently not operating well while under such pressure.
