Muted for private conversation with friend? Really?

Is there anything I can do about this? I triggered the mute somehow I guess. It doesn't even tell me how long it lasts. Please help

It is a temporary mute done by the automatic anti-gold selling systems. They have had to become rather harsh to fight the problem (and still some get through).

Your private conversation, likely via Whisper, is exactly how gold sellers try to contact people. So if you made any similar references of gold seller patterns - it would be picked up.

But mute is not permanent, as you have seen.

yeah this is seriously goofy, i got muted AGAIN. I'd rather be spammed with ads than tip toe around chat when im in a private channel with my friends

I got the same issue yesterday, it was very frustrating and I couldn't speak to my friends anymore. Only /guild and /party or raid would work.

But the most annoying part is that I don't know how I got muted, I don't think I typed too many whispers quickly (or atleast it didn't feel like it). Only reason I see could be my Resurrection macro that does a /say, but I doubt it.

it wasn't due to spam, i pretty much figured out what not to talk about at this point. still really frustrating, id prefer the gold spam

Yeah I got muted for 690 days for typing "test" in /s (at least it was the only thing I typed so I'm assuming that triggered it).

 

I was using it to test lag.
