Akoni 0 Report post Posted January 9, 2017 Just how fast does a 1H weapon have to be for a 1H + Sheild + Flametonge spec? Could we possibly list specific weapons we can use/upgrade while leveling this spec? Much love!!!
gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted January 9, 2017 There's no exact speed that you NEED to have, you just want to have something below 2.0 speed. Most daggers are around 1.4 to 1.6 speed, that's a good place to be in.

Would you then aim for a 2H weapon over 3.0?
gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted January 9, 2017 (edited) No, you do not need super-slow 2h. Shaman does not have any "weapon damage" abilities, so a slower weapon won't really do you any good. I think. I'm not sure if Windfury is PPM-based or not. Most 2h are around 3.0 speed however, so just aim for anything around 2.9 to 3.4 and you'll be fine. And use Windfury, obviously. Before 30, fast weapon with Flametongue is arguably better, doing just about the same DPS while also having a shield for shitloads of extra survivability. Even after 30, Flametongue + fast weapon + shield is still perfectly viable. Edited January 9, 2017 by gotmilk0112

You are not entirely right in here, as WF procs "grant you 2 extra attacks with X extra melee attack power". This uses the weapon dmg (not dps) which means the slower the weapon the bigger the procs dmg.
KonigsTiger 2 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 With WF you can literally one shot people with a proc if you are using a slow weapon.
gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) The reason Warriors want slower weapons is because Mortal Strike is an instant ability and it is not tied to your weapon speed in any way. Paladins want slow weapons because Seal of Command is PPM-based. Windfury on the other hand does not seem to be PPM-based as far as I can tell, so a slower weapon will mean less chance for procs. Yes, higher weapon damage will mean bigger Windfury hits, but you'll also have less chance to proc Windfury because of less melee hits. in PvP, sure, you could go with a slower weapon to try and smack people dead with procs, but for leveling, I'm not sure a super slow weapon would be optimal.
