Kazgarul 1 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 Hello, I saw the tweet about bans for "any form of Anti-AFK system abuse" and would like a clarification of exactly what that extends to. I'm assuming it includes the usual macros, botting and putting a weight on w, anything that doesn't require user input. My question is whether this extends to anti-AFK "abuse" by user input - i.e. tabbing in occasionally to move the mouse. I ask this because due to the massive login queue I cannot play when I want to and the queue time estimates are not always accurate so I can't just say "ok great I'll queue for 8 hours and then it pops, perfect" due to the inherent inaccuracy of the system and the server restarts sometimes giving me the choice between early login or back of the line. The latter happened tonight so I sat at an inn for about 2 hours (I was lucky when tabbing back in) so I just cleared afk every 25 minutes or so to stay logged in. If I had any control over when I logged on ofc I wouldn't do this as it occupies a spot and extends the queue and it also requires my attention. Could a Dev please confirm whether or not this constitutes as "abuse" please as I really don't want to get banned for an unknown wrongdoing nor "abuse" your server in any way. Thanks, Sewerpants

Right now there are over 11k players on Elysium. Yesterday we had about 30% of the players idling in their character selection screen for hours.

Nelythia 44 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 (edited) Any forms of botting, this includes any form of AFK prevention, results in a permanent ban. Don't try to avoid AFK with anything, it counts as botting (obviously only when you're actually not on your PC and preventing it yourself with moving/jumping). Thats how it was on Nostalrius, thats how it most likely is on Elysium. Edited January 10, 2017 by Nelythia

Every server, including retail, has a rule against using macros/automatic key presses and such, to prevent yourself from going afk. It counts as automation / botting. But if we, say...afk ingame and manually hit the W key every 10 minutes to prevent ourselves from getting afk-kicked, is that against the rules?

As long as YOU prevent the AFK and not something else (like a macro, tool, or anything else that involves you not being on the keyboard yourself) its fine.
gotmilk0112 10 Report post Posted January 10, 2017 The confusion stems from Elysium saying "any form of anti-AFK system abuse", it's not clear whether they mean just botting/automation, or if they mean ANY attempt to prevent yourself from being afk-kicked.
