Ursarie 0 Report post Posted January 29, 2017 (edited) I'm leveling an Orc Protection Warrior with a healer-spec friend. It's my first one and I really like it. PVP and solo questing are not an issue, I just want to be a great asset for my party in instances. If it turns out I like tanking, I'll stick with it for endgame, if not, there's always Fury, but I want to give it a serious try. I'm level 26 and my spec is currently this:http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LV0bZVZx I'm unsure on how to progress down the line to maintain 5-man viability up into the level 60 instances and to choose points in an order that gets the the max bang for my buck as I level. At this point I have 3 choices: 1. ARMS - Put an extra 3 points into Tactical Mastery so I get to 5/5 from my current 2/5 (I wonder if 10 rage points is enough so as to leave it at 2/5, like I've seen in some late game specs). The extra rage should be fun to use in PVP/Solo but I'll not sacrifice other more viable 5-man choices for that. One goal would be to get to Impale but I'm unsure about it and not thinking so far ahead. 2. FURY - Get Unbridled Wrath (I do feel starved for rage, but I think most of it should come from getting hit). Very unsure here. Don't see anything more I could get without sacrificing points in the Prot Tree. 3. PROT - Take (in order) 2/2 Bloodrage, 3/5 Anticipation, 1/1 Last Stand, 1/3 Shield Block, 5/5 Defiance (http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LV0bZVZebzox - this could be me at Level 38) - I feel that 1/3 in Shield Block would be nice for the extra Shield Block before getting Defiance. Not thinking very far ahead here either but after these I would get the "obvious ones" The first spec I made for level 60 5-mans is this one, I chose the "obvious" ones without thinking it over too much. Work in progress.http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LV0xZVVZebzoe0dio Any opinions on how I should proceed? Thank you. Undertanker 88 Report post Posted January 29, 2017 (edited) If you are wanting to go the 5 man tanking spec (knowning while questing / grinding things will slow you down) you'll want to continue with this: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LV0bZVZxfzs by level 36. You don't need +def since you'll don't go into an instance you are too low level for. Keeping up improved shield block should prevent you from being crit for the majority of the time on the last boss which is typically a higher level. Imp revenge is OP as hell in 5 mans. http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LV0bZVZxfzsIMz by level 45. http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LV0bZVZxfzseMzVo by level 53. http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LV0bZVZeizseMdVo by level 60. You can stay in this spec while you do 5 mans as imp revenge is > 4 more def. Once you are ready to raid, drop improved revenge, get the last 2 points in anticipation and put the last point into 3/5 tactical master to maintain more rage during stance dances. KonigsTiger 2 Report post Posted January 31, 2017 if you lvl with a friend, you would be much faster as fury or arms. I know that it seems ideal to be prot for 5 man, but I have tanked every instance from ZF and below as fury and arms and it worked perfectly. Warrs are killing machines, but the downtime hurt us. If you have a healer slave you can just kill nonstop and lvl faster, so you can tank the precious high level content faster. The specs that undertanker provided seem to be good for your objective though. I would probably skip Last stand for now, its not like you will need it until you tank Uldaman.
Garun 9 Report post Posted February 1, 2017 (edited) Leveling as arms with 5/5 deflection and at least 2/5 (I personally use 4/5) tactical mastery will supply you with all you need to tank at low levels while still allowing you to do reasonable damage like with a pure dps build. Also it's not like the other choices on the tiers with those 2 talents are super good anyways, so you aren't losing much of any dps when questing with a 2H. Don't start going down the fury or prot tree until you get Mortal Strike. Edit: This is the link to what that spec would be at level 29 which I assume is your level atm OP http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LVhbbIb Edited February 1, 2017 by zmandude24
