Hurricane's Town Siege Log - NOW WITH RAW, COMPLETE VIDEOS.

Recommended Posts

Feb 16th UPDATE:  Entries will now usually include complete video footage of our PVP raids.

In this log I will chronicle the adventures of Hurricane, our victories, losses, and general adventures related to PVP raids, which we enjoy so much.

Today I took Hurricane through our usual sweep of Stranglethorn Vale, and then off to Kalimdor to sack Splintertree Post.  Splintertree is a grimy little place frequented by undead and filled with walking beef deposits.  Not much resistance was expected, besides hapless levelers and a few 50+ who responded and then immediately un-responded, which was OK to me.  My guys aren't ready to tangle with the big boys just yet, and as they say, practice makes perfect.

After murdering guards and and a scattered handful of horde, we got a little bored.  I myself had a good nap in Splintertree's inn, after clearing the refuse out.  I'm already well known for naps in unlikely places.

But the real reason for such an unimportant raid is: DISCIPLINE!  Dishonorable Kills are a real hassle.  I want my guys sacking any town, anywhere, without the risk of DK's.  You never know when the real threat from world PVP might arise.  Sometimes it rides out and attacks you.  What?  An aggressive civilian?  The only solution is to sheep and run.

On the whole I was satisfied.  Restraint was shown, and the boys and girls are getting pretty good about assisting, forming lines to catch stray horde, and clustering and unclustering as the situation arises.  Wouldn't want a repeat of that one time a level 60 mage blew up a bunch of our level 20's.  Wish I had a screenshot of that!

A few more levels and we'll be ready to occupy towns with heavier traffic, slaughter flight masters, and tangle with counter-raids.

With our average level up another 5, we decided to do some more town sacking.  First stop was a revisit to Splintertree Post, to clean up one loose end - The flight master.

We didn't linger there long, of course.  Bigger fish to fry.  Our next stop was the Crossroads.

This place proved to be a Civilian NPC landmine.  The troops were commanded to refrain from AOEs and stick to guards and players.  I was pleased to see last week's practice had paid off - no DK's.  After the guards, flight master and flagged players were removed, we had a celebratory dance party in the stupid and badly decorated hord inn.

Growing bored with unflagged horde and an unsatisfying trickle of unorganized 60's as the only response, and wary of someone's cat biting a precious baby civilian orclet, we moved to Freewind Post.  Lots of guards here in dense concentration, which took a moment to remove.  Then the players and flight master were disposed of.

Soon there was nothing but bodies.  With no civilian NPCs to require strict discipline, the boys and girls could run wild.  We occupied the place until boredom set in.  You can fly in, but you can't fly out.

Next week - Grom'gol and Tarren Mill.  As the levels go up, so do the targets.

We hit Tarren Mill, and it sucked.  Bunch of lowbies, civilians everywhere, and only a few 60's responded to fight us.

Grom'gol, on the other hand, was amazing.  A constant stream of 40+ horde, and then waves of 60's.  We eventually wiped when caught between two groups.  No good screenshots of this, which is why we'll be streaming these raids and keeping video archives starting next week.  See what actually goes down in this thread.  Watch us pull out of towns in irritation to reset civilians somebody nicked with AOE.  Exciting!

#OccupyGromgol

Hurricane camps out in the Grom for over an hour.  We didn't leave until the ground was carpeted white with bone.  Sadly, no meaningful counterraid materialized, but rest assured, we will be posting raw footage of us getting wiped in Orgrimmar pretty soon.
