Has anyone tried Improved Imp for PvP?

Recommended Posts

So, all of those 30/0/21 specs in PvP (BGs and duels) have one big problem: you dont have infinite soulshards. It can be rather annoying having to farm them during your PvP session or having to fight warriors with felhunter in duels. Getting your pet killed in BG while your target was healed after shadowburn is also Yuck.

Has anyone tried to just say "fuck it!" and go full Imp on those bastards? Its probably not optimal against anything, but it could be a jack of all trades. Not only some decent DPS, but also nice amount of bonus HP. Not to mention helping out all your group with permanent super blood pact. Plus - delaying any caster with decent fireballs every 1,5 seconds out of nowhere.

Im basically thinking something like 30/8/13, for additional survivability with healtstone and Demonic Embrace: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#Iy0bARboVZcxZxxbz. 2 points from Healtstone could probably be shifted to affliction tree.

Whats the downsides?

This question is probably quite noobish, but i never played lock in vanilla. I was Glad with it in TBC, but even then the memory is hazy.

Was going to test this on other private servers, but not even sure what exactly am i supposed to test. So decided to ask it here first.

Get the black book from Razergore and try it out. People like to call it a machine gun imp at that point.

Stating that SM/Ruin is at a disadvantage because you run out of soul shards isn't a valid argument. Farm soul shards before you pvp and get a core felcloth bag (a 28 soul shard bag, which I can make for anyone on Anathema for a price. 5g discount if you whisper me with the promo code STEVE).

Also losing destructive reach blows. Try this instead:

Basically SM ruin but with imp funtime.

I use improved IMP and his imp. firebolt cast for lvlling up and PVP. But despite of giving you a good stamina bonus +fireshield, after lvl 45 he ooms very fast (as фткyн said) and due to low hp he dies from mobs :\\\

imp is good as pvp minion. Seriously, fast firebolt casting + hp 30% (if improved). Killed 2 rogues 2v1 a hour ago.

If you pvping versus paladin you should use vw (sacrifice) vs bubble. It is fun to watch how lolodines cant do a shhhhh.

Only go one point in imp firebolt. I have used him he's nice when you are about to attack someone send him in the run far away from him, warriors will think it's a mage not realizing their death has already been sowed by dots. But really felhunter offers too much utility to ignore.

Also I want to point out that the imp is supposed to have an auto attack when he runs out of Mana but on this server he doesn't. Also the imp has really far Mana Regen I like to put a spirit scroll on him. So when he ooms turn him off till he's recharged otherwise he will constantly go in and out of the 5 SEC rule.

Yes, sadly imp's auto attack doesn't work here :( And he becomes useless while OOM  especially when you do PVP. But additional stamina and fireshield cross this small disadvantage.
