Alterac Valley Mass Exploit

Recommended Posts

Hello everyone!

I've got a suggestion to address a certain problem!

The problem is that Horde players can exploit a wall jump inside AV to get into DB without having to deal with just about anything but running past IW bunker which doesn't even stop them in the slightest.

Not only does this completely defeat the purpose of both the BG's objectives and goals, but it also defeats the blizzlike vanilla feeling we all cherish and hold so deer.

Furthermore I raised this question in Elysiums discord channel and there was a community manager responding to it.

He replied to me after I having outraged "literally sick and tired of hordes exploiting in AV. In true blizzard spirit this would be a bannable offense... Why is it allowed on this server????? It completely ruins AV". He said after having asked me how they exploited, and me answering, that it is a bannable offense to be walljumping into Dun Baldar because it gives a significant advantage over other players. And he pasted the corresponding server rules in the discord chat.

He also said: "Report it, with evidence, and it will be investigated and dealt with" To which I replied: "what, are you kidding me? How am I supposed to report every single horde ever to set foot into AV? And even if I did, you gonna ban every horde to ever set foot into AV? Would be lots better if you guys just made an official announcement to stop it and that they could get banned for it. Right now none knows it seems. They're all sheep's following the herder".

Which brings me to my suggestion. To herd these Horde sheep's there needs to be a message in AV about 1min after it starts, saying something along the lines of "Hello there, this is the server admins, exploiting in here to wall-jump into Dun Baldar is a bannable offense. Please think twice. Have a good game!"

This rule is dumb. The suggestion is dumb as well.

The jump is being used by horde to avoid the bridge in combination with both bunkers archers and 2-3 frostmages of the enemy team that keep a whole horde raid away from your base.

This is by all means unfair, but its the game design. To avoid this we use this jump. Still it doesn't make us win the battleground, or gives us a huge benefit.

It simply allows us to actually let us go into the alliance base in AV.

We still have to fight against ALL alliance NPC's that are obviously placed all around aid station and respawn within 2 minutes. So even if we join your base, doesnt matter if bridge or backdoor, we still don't win this game by "easy cap aid station", like you think we do.

Alliance runs into horde base, can cap every tower without ccing or killing ANY archer as well as capping relief hut with 1 player pulling the 4 guards + the only elite there and riding around.

AV is simply a huge alliance favored battleground. To have at least a chance of winning alterac valley without having alliance turtling on bridge every single time we simply use the backdoor. It gives us at least a chance to try and win the battleground.

Not easy win, not easy loss. No, it gives us a chance of actually playing once we arrive the enemy base.

Crying about this backdoor is just sad. If you don't see the huge benefits for alliance due to the map design, I can't take you serious.

You mean just like how there's an exploit alliance can use to avoid IB --> TP choke being held by just as many mages? Oh wait, there isn't any such exploit for alliance.

HAHAHA WHAT! You don't want vanilla? go retail. You think hordes doesn't get a SIGNIFICANT advantage over alliance using this cheap exploit you're clueless. And hordes can DEFINITELY win without this exploit. You're just too lazy to play AV the way it's meant to be played...

Mhmmm. Let me share with you my recent AV experience on this server. Hordes gather at their hill. Alliance gather at their hill. Horde starts running long before alliance does cus they spawn closer. They effortlessly run past IW bunker and straight to DB gy caps it and starts clearing long before alliance even has passed FWgy and most of the time there's hordes defending at IB-TP choke and even wipes the entire alliance push. Even in the games alliance manage to get a sufficient enough players down to RH hordes have simply captured DBgy way earlier meaning they will win almost certainly anyway.

I've literally only won about every one in ten games this weekend which is far less than hordes would have won under normal circumstances.

Just like Horde can completely ignore the first two bunkers? and even ALL FOUR with this exploit? Well thought-through and deeply considered argument you have there.

This is just a plain lie...

Crying about this backdoor exploit being a bannable offense, just like in true blizzard spirit. If you can't see that you're clearly blowing the DB bunkers way out of proportion, all while not realizing that it got nothing to do with anything, I can't take you serious. Please go back to retail.

Besides, this never was about vanilla being a fair version of the game. This is about an exploit. So even if you were speaking some sort of truth, who cares, this is not about vanilla being a fair version of the game. It's probably the most unbalanced version of the game in almost all regards. Heavily favoring hordes with more accessibility with flight paths, more quests, shamans being arguable OP compared to paladins, not to mention racials where somehow orcs have a wooping 25% sun resist, yes, not just 1% or 0,5% BUT TWENTY-FIVE PERCENT, will of the forsaken, war stomp. The list goes on...

So don't you dare, you delusional mother -snip-, come here and spew this garbage in my thread ever again.

What you are talking about is encountering AV premades.

Maybe do a premade yourself to counter them using backdoor.

Still in PUG AV's everything I have said is valid.

AV = alliance favored BG, in all means.

Must been having some real unlucky past couple of 30 AV's then.

Or you know, you could make a premade (once this has been brought to attention so ppl won't exploit anymore) youself and win some AVs against the alliance in this incredible unfair BG!

Not by a long shot.

Mmmyes. There's this exploit horde has you see. And they also spawn way closer to mid field. They can skip the first two bunkers w/o exploit and still be fine with a race tactic given both teams have a few mages defending where it hurts the most. With exploit they can skip them all. While this holds true to alliance as well they simply cannot just walk through IB-TP choke w/o casualties like hordes can at the DB bunkers because of exploit. Fix the exploit you make it fair.

Is there anything you'd like to add to this incredible imbalance? It's a rhetorical question. Clearly you're incapable of answering this with any sort of dignity.

Backdoor is legit, but Npcs at Dun Baldar should aggro only when we attack them, not when we're next to them. Don't forget that they have Murgot Deepforge, this motherfucker respawn every 2 min ! That makes Dun Baldar very hard to take for a normal pug alterac, that's why backdoor is the only way to win alterac for horde.

Btw that makes Alterac Valley very unpleasant to play.

Pls fix !

You should see the wall jump in WSG. Very hard to do without levitate abilities and with little benefit other then sneaking into the base on the east side but can allow horde a 3rd way to enter.

As the CM in question, allow me to clarfiy: Any use of walljumping, terrain glitching, or other exploit to negate design or mechanics, to gain an advantage (whether you view that vantage as simply equalising, and whether or not it puts you ahead), is against the ToS. This applies universally, not just to BGs. If you have a problem with the balance of a BG, and you have a suggestion on how it can be made better, then we do want to hear from you, but neither the balance nor your perceived difficulty gives you permission to ignore the ToS that you agreed to in whole when you created your account.

Premade vs premade Alliance always wins a race. They have much less NPCs to deal with than Horde. This walljump is fine, without it horde wouldn't bother queuing AV. Just because you're being stomped doesn't mean alliance can't do same with coordination.

Look at WSG if you wanna compare unfair jumps, alliance wall & fence jump?

Anathema should already be on AV patch 1.8 but ain't.

I am going to lock this thread, only because it is going to turn into back and forth drivel as to who is right and who is wrong. This has been a move for horde since retail WoW. As of now, the GM Team is monitoring the situation but our goal is to ensure that AV remains as balanced as it can be for both sides.
