MacBook Pro 13 inch 2015 base model

Recommended Posts

I'm buying a MBP 13 inch, 2015 model for work. This is not a debate if I shouldn't buy another laptop (I know MBP isn't much for gaming), but I am wondering; Anyone here using this model to play Vanilla WoW? I'm sure the fps is fine, I am more worried about how hot the laptop gets. Anyone that could share their experience with this?

Much appreciated!

I don't know about that one.   I play on three different laptops, one mac and two windows, they all get hot to the point that play is negatively affected.

I play on a 2013? MBP, 15" with Retina. It's fine. The laptop will get hot, and you will hear the fans kick in, but it's not going to get hot enough to burn you. If anything, set something under the laptop so that you can get better air circulation around the entire chassis.

Enjoy all the boats dropping you off before everyone else! (In the water, obviously).

Hello,

Great question which prompts me to ask mine. I also play on a MBP, 2011. I used to play WoW legion and it was fine.

I've downloaded the game from Elysium. When I log in I get to "Connected" and then it disconnects me. Every single time.

Anyone have any thoughts or helpful tips?

Thanks!

Yes, I run it from my desktop but when I am mobile I use the Vanilla client on my 13 inch MBP 2015 model and it runs great. You need to change the resolution on the mac side to "more space" and then the ingame wow settings should be 1680*1050 fullscreen. Works like a charm.

Does not get too hot

Enjoy

Guys maybe the overheating problem is actually the fact you are getting too much fps - i dont know, i play on desktop, but enabling vertical sync should help in this particular case.

That is a serious hardware design flaw though, or the cooling fans are being obstructed. Then again, Macbooks was never designed with the intent of gaming but rather for writing bad poetry in dank coffeshops.

Well, it's logicall tbh - 300 fps - your graphic card needs to pump out 300 frames per second

Vsync on and it only needs to do 60 in most cases. (depends on monitor refresh rate)

Yes and No. Electrical engineering 101 dictates that you design your cooling solution in relation to TDP. However, as we all know cooling efficiency often declindes with time due to blockage of fans and dried-out thermal paste. So yes, V-sync may aleviate the problem of overheating.
