Disappearing Gold

My character's gold appears to have disappeared... 

I have not used the password for this account elsewhere, and I have confirmed that the account name has not been leaked (using https://haveibeenpwned.com/).  

I logged off on Friday (Australian EST) with ~87 gold.  When I logged in again later in the day (I travelled overseas in the meantime), the amount of money on my character had been reduced to 0g 0s and 0c.  All of my items and loot was still in my bag (which I imagine is uncommon if being hacked).  

Can I please get some admin/GM assistance to check my character logs?  Happy to receive messages in-game or on the forum.

1. Okay, so you havnt used your password anywhere else. How about your accountname? I dont know what kind of brute-force protection elysium have (if any?) but if you used your account name on multiple sites/projects, you could've been brute-forced. Also, haveibeenpwned doesnt not show all leaks.

 

2. Have you downloaded any addons lately? There have perviously been occations where addons have been injected with malicious code that will automatically send your gold to the hacker. This has happend before on Nostalrius when the Aux-addon.

Storfan, do you mean the addon in general has malicious code? Or some versions are injected? I'm using Aux but my gold hasn't been send away (maybe cuz im poor, max gold I had was 110) so now I'm scared :(

1.  The account name has been used only as a character name before (obviously different to my screen name & character names in game).  However, the combination has not been used before.  It seems slightly preposterous and equally ludicrous to suggest that every single character in Elysium is unique. 

2.  No, the latest add-on I would have downloaded would have been almost a month prior.  Also, I scan every .rar file I download prior to extracting.  Further, this presumably would only be effective if I was logged on, unless it operated as a keylogger, in which case see prior sentence regarding scanning each file.  I definitely logged out with the gold, as I had just put some items on the auction house. 

3. I would love to set up 2FA if my email provider didn't keep delaying the receipt of my emails.

No, there was a specific version that was uploaded on some site before nost was shutdown that was infected. The best way to stay safe is by downloading addons hosted on github because they post the code in the open making it easy for "the pros" to detect malicious code.

Change your password to avoid getting haxx0r3d in the future and enable 2FA. Instructions on how to do that are in my profile's about me section.

Your gold will not be restored regardless.

1. If they in some way or another has gotten hold of your account name, it's simply a matter of time before you get hacked if they got bruteforce software running (im not actually sure if there is any kind of bruteforce protection on Elysium?, some sites/games will keep you from doing X-mount of failed logins before locking u out temporaily).

2. It doesnt matter if you scan it. The malicious code are within the function of the addon. It doesnt "infect" you as a virus would but simply adds a function to the addon that simply does something like "Send gold to player=X when opening mailbox" (grossly over simplified). This code can never be detected by your anti-virus software.

3. Too bad, 2FA will make your account unhackable.

Your opinions and speculation =/=  not helpful.  If an admin can tell me my account was accessed from an IP address that wasn't one of the three I use, then I will believe it.

Otherwise, stop wasting both of our time with your speculation.

I'm suffering the same problem - gold disappeared, bags and gear untouched. An announcement from an admin or GM about this would be greatly appreciated.

Also got hacked during weekend. Logged in today - no gold (~400), no consumables (already had consumables for AQ worth couple of thousands) on my main and on my bank, but they left me gear .

The same thing happened to me last night. I was on leveling for a good amount of time then logged off for a few hours. When I logged back on all of my gold was gone (same thing 0g 0s 0c), however, all of my gear/items/banks was untouched. I feel as if I were hacked, the hacker would at least vendor all of the gear to get a little more gold. I opened a ticket and was able to talk to a GM. All the GM could say was to change my password to my account and email. I asked if he could tell me what happened to the gold and his reply was "I'm sorry, but I cannot" or something along those lines (I will post an image of the conversation later when I get home and can access the screenshots). Also, to note, this happened to all my characters on the account (2 on elysium and 1 on anathema).

 

Some sort of notice from a GM/Dev would be greatly appreciated since it seems like this is happening to a lot of people in the last few hours.

This is exactly why i'm scrambling to try to change my password or add 2fa. 300g missing is just... no words... Anyways the email system for elysium seems to be broken at the moment so i'm just not gonna play my main til then. I dont even have enough for repairs.

None of your gold and none of your items (with 2 or 3 exceptions) will be restored.
