How Elysium can save itself in 5 steps

Step #1.  Remove all admin privileges, access, and powers from individuals who do not directly need these things to do their job.  This is the most difficult step. 
VITALIY MUST BE CONVINCED, REGARDLESS OF GUILT OR INNOCENCE, TO SURRENDER POWERS HE DOES NOT NEED TO DO HIS JOB, WHICH AT NO POINT SHOULD INCLUDE UNBANNING PEOPLE, CREATING ITEMS OR GOLD, AND SO ON.

Step #2.  Revise access and visibility standards among the staff so that every staff member can see the activities of every other staff member, at all times.  No exceptions.  No one should be able to do anything without their peers knowing exactly what was done, and when.  Logs of every Staff member, Admin, GM and CM activity should never be purged, should be backed up regularly, and should be easily searchable by every member of the staff.

Step #3.  Remove all "unofficial" project members from positions of power, and institute a zero-tolerance, 1 strike and you're out policy for abuses by staff members, admins, GMs and CMs.  Include the creation of items and levels to "help staff members level and play when they're too busy to do it normally" as such an abuse.  Retroactively remove anyone who violated this policy in the past, forever.  Never allow violators of this policy to return for any reason.

Step #4.  Sacrifice, for no reason other than PR, the individuals stipulated in these leaks, and suspected by the Crestfall team of corruption.  This has gone much too far to give people the benefit of the doubt.

Step #5.  Double-down on the policy of extreme transparency.  You can no longer trust your own team to keep your meetings secret.  Make them public.  Your player base has been given good cause to distrust anything that goes on behind closed doors at Elysium.  Open all the doors.

 

Do it all or die.  That isn't a threat.  I can't do anything.  I'm nobody.  It's frank statement of reality, because:

Real players do care.

You realize people like their CM's -don't- have GM access in game, yes? Most of this stuff is standard net-work security protocols that even a cursory look through my past interactions with admins proves they have already done, right? I think this thread bullshit is kinda silly honestly.

You're literally talking to coders and hackers who have cobbled together a game server and modified code...

And now you want to start poking holes in the bucket holding all the water.

Technically EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM are in violation of law or terms of service... and as long as the server physically works, I couldn't care. All these witch-hunters are the reason we get these Disconnect Issues, and have to yank people's lines of code and all kinds of BS that cause stability issues that anger the average player who's never bothered to read the forums.

This would be like the creator of the manhattan project letting the plebs at the bottom know the grand scheme...Who on the team even has acess to the core? im sure everything is compartmentalized so people on the team don't have full access to the core / system.  And the one you want to not have any power is the owner of the servers who pays the bills lol...

Its not the problem for player base. This is the problem for current GMs and Devs, i dont think anyone will do anything for server whos admin is suspected creating gold and items for real money

Considering he's the guy at the center of this controversy, and considering his proven history of RMT activity, it's a step that needs to be taken.  He can do his job without being able to create gold, or unban people.

If he doesn't have the guts to surrender what he doesn't need, if Shenna can't convince him, nothing can move forward.  Every step taken to improve things will be done under the shadow of possible corruption from the highest level.

And we'll have to agree to disagree about players being OK with people buying unbans and god knows what else from the staff.  History is in my side, not yours.  This kind of thing has killed many servers. 

You're going to see population plummet when this information filters to the plebs.  It will reach every ear in a few weeks.  It's hardly started to move outside of the circles you and I move in, but word of these problems will spread.

Um in every world chat on all servers they talked about whats going on / linked the meeting soundcloud..Census is nobody really cares.  Fact of the matter is 8k people playing and having fun can care less about some banned crusader brings to light..Its not like on every server theres best in slot toons running everywhere..

The real test for Elysium will come if and when crestfall ever opens it’s gates.  They’ve been very clever here making themselves known to our player base whilst claiming the moral high ground.

If it opens fairly soon, whilst all this shit is still fresh and it’s pretty stable, Elysium might have some competition and lose a chunk of numbers.

Short of that, there is no real danger here. People will not quit out of principle with nowhere else to play except retail.  Retail sucks.

1. Vitaly is not paying the bills for the servers but WE players do via our donations. You really wanna give a guy your donations who sell unbans to goldsellers? I bet Vitaly put the donations in his own pocket.

2. It IS the problem of the playerbase if Vitaly sell unbans because we getting more and more spamed by godlsellers. And if it's true and he sells gold + lvl 60 characters he also destroy the server economy.
