weaponskill

Recommended Posts

I have been googling around and haven't gotten any wiser. Is 310 weaponskill enough or should i still use muggers belt for 315? if i understand correctly weaponskill increases the damage of glancing blows right?

Well 310 to 315 is a bump of 5% (technically somewhere around 5.26) higher damage on your glancing hits, so whether it actually is worth depends on the alternative.

Incorrect. Current formula caps at 315, and in addition to that, in doesn't "eliminate" glancing blows, they're still occurring but they simply deal 100% of your white hit damage. Meaning, they still can't miss or crit.

The reason I was thinking it was 310, is the Aged Core Hound gloves from MC supposedly eliminated glancing blows. Or as you more specifically said, made them deal 100% damage. Not sure why I've been thinking it was 310 not 315 all these years. Have any sauce?

It basically varies depending on what formula the server "chooses" to go for since there are compelling arguments on each side. Personally I think 315 is the most rational. Its commonly referred to as "Athans Formula". What do you want source for? There's a plentiful of thread on the nost forums repeating the same arguments over and over, you can also check the rogue guide which is pinned in this subforum. If you're still confused you're welcome to PM me.

Basically says 310 is the "soft cap" so this is what you aim for. With AQ i will Bank Even core leather gloves once I get deathsting tho. Since it's basically 2wep skill vs gloves of brutality...

Thats partially twisting the truth, the value of weaponskill diminishes significantly point by point from 300 and onward, but there is no such as a cap. It will always boil down to stat gain versus stat gain. 5.26% increase in damage on 40% of your hits is still a decent change. 310->310 would end upbeing around a 1,05% damage increase assuming 50% of your damage is from whites.

I know the math behind it perfectly well, that's why I said "soft cap" at 310 the gain of extra wep skill is diminished so far that nearly all available gearupgrades over wep skill will be beneficial. So you can call it a soft cap.

310 eliminates glancing blows completely afaik, so not sure that going to 315 would do anything

Nothing eliminates glancing blows they are and always will be 40% of your white attacks. Just at 315 weapon skill those 40% also deal 100% dmg instead of 65% at 300 wep skill.

this is your white hit table without gear and talents:

Miss: 24.6%
Dodge: 5.6%
Parry: 0%
Glancing blow: 40%
Block: 0%
Critical hit: ~10%
Normal hit: 19.8%

Go read also this:

There is explained hit tables and critcaps and how to calculate crit cap. Even blue/epic geared rogues easily hit critcaps once raid buffed so keep that in mind when using crit or hit.
