Viv 0 Report post Posted March 16, 2017 The recent update posted by Shenna included a section about how if you feel like you have any issues with a policy that you feel could be improved, that you should share it in the appropriate forum section, so I'm doing so now. I will preface my suggestion by saying that I've enjoyed my time on this server so far, even through all of the drama, and I appreciate the work people are doing to keep it going. I'm looking forward to seeing where the open source approach takes the server. Now onto my suggestion. While I understand the concept of a player pretending to be scammed in order to get free items, I feel like the policy on GMs never replacing scammed items should be re-examined. In cases where the player has screenshots showing that they had the items on their character, and with the ability to check logs to see what happened to the items, I believe that for a true Blizzlike experience, a GM should look into the issue and be as helpful as they can be. If it's a problem of not having enough GMs to handle all the cases of such things, I can understand the hesitation to change the policy, but I feel like helping some people out is still better than just making the policy to help nobody out. Assuredly, the player should be able to come forth with good evidence that they had the items and provide some form of reasonably solid proof. But I feel like in a case where there's 90% proof of something with some small amount of question as to whether it happened exactly as stated or not, I feel like the policy should be to investigate the issue, check out the logs to see if the items went where the player said they went, and if that is indeed the case, if there's a fraction of doubt still left, the player should just get the benefit of the doubt that they are most likely being honest and not trying to scam the GM's out of items to gain an advantage over others. It does not feel good as a player who was actually the victim of a scam to then feel like the GMs or developers think you're trying to scam them when all you want is some help, and some justice against the scammer. I have tried to create this post in the least inflammatory way possible, as I'm trying to provide constructive criticism, and honestly enjoy my time on Elysium, and appreciate the effort that is put into the server. Thanks for reading, and thanks for your consideration!
Duks 3 Report post Posted March 16, 2017 I think the issue with the "Scam Policy" is it creates additional work on the GM staff that are already bogged down with other issues. The best way to deal with scammers is to be careful in your deals. Always use the trade system.
Emptora 17 Report post Posted March 16, 2017 If you get scammed out of an item its your own fault. The screenshot and evidence should result in a ban for the scammer. There was 2 or 3 cases of this on Old Nost and the offender was disciplined. The only case it can really happen is during enchanting or lockbox picking. If someone with an MC / AQ enchanting pattern wants to get banned by stealing 50g in mats, I'll donate those just to get the satisfaction for causing their account to be closed. As for lockbox picking, have a guild rogue open them. Only other way you'll need items restored is as result of hacking. Use 2FA.
Storfan 24 Report post Posted March 17, 2017 (edited) The only reason GMs dont investigate scamming, ninjalooting and restore items deleted by mistake is because it creates A GARGANTUAN-METRIC-SHIT-TON of work. This is time better spent helping with more important issues. tldr: GMs here dont get paid to help with stupid shit like blizzard GMs. EDIT: If you are afraid to get scammed, just record the trade and name/shame the perp afterwards. And as always, only trade with reputable members of the community of well known guilds. Edited March 17, 2017 by Storfan
Brisies 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2017 Another side note is to NOT, and I repeat NOT go to any runs in dungeons where you are asked the following... Pay (insert gold amount here) for (insert item name here) Go to runs where (insert item name here) is reserved Master loot is used (exception of guild raids of course but thats you trusting others too) When it comes to professions... The BEST absolute thing you can do is the following <crafter>: I can craft your item <you> okay the mats are what? <Crafter> this this this and this <you> okay I am giving you this this and this and you are crafting this for me, right? <crafter> yes, you will get this Ensure you document in chat the things that are being taken and given back. I saw on a forum post just last week where this was recommended by a CM. Always get it in chat, then you can SS it if its not followed through with. And.....as Duks said.... be weary of those you trust easily.
smokeit 26 Report post Posted March 20, 2017 I suggest everyone to find a good guild. A good guild has plenty of people that can help you with crafting and are trustful. And tbh, guild ubrs, lbrs,mc and ony runs are fun as fuck. (ZK here, don't have more raids unlocked atm).

I know plenty of honorable players who provide boosting services (myself included, but I guess I'm biased). Are you also against reserves made my people hosting pugs to MC? If so, why?
Brisies 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2017 Im against it because ive personally seen people abuse the Master Looting situation when something else has dropped that they also wanted. Honestly, I have nothing against people who do it. Its like those people who smoke weed and what not... they arent bad people... its the ones that do the wrong stuff that ruin it for others. I also, never, never, never pay for something before i get it...
