Pwnflx 0 Report post Posted March 18, 2017 (edited) Greetings. I am playing with a set of RL friends and none of us have any plans of raiding. We'll be doing big forgotten quest chains and 5-man dungeons when all is at 60. What I would like is to play a 2h aoe spec, although I am not entirely sure if this is at all viable. What I've come to, this far, is this: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LMhxbIboZE0hVzxoV I can swear that I remember playing with someone back in the day that played a none raid geared warrior that main tanked and top dpsed BRD all the way through with a 2h spec that did not include MS. But then again, it was many years ago. I'm not saying that I want to do that but it's the spirit of what I've got in mind. Any help is appreciated! :) TL;DR What is the best 2h spec for non raid instances exclusively? Edited March 18, 2017 by Pwnflx
Undertanker 88 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 First: DON'T TANK 2H. Your 20% more dps vs 4 other people also doing damage gives an increased group dps of 5%. Your healer will be using WAY more than 5% more heals to keep you alive with your poor choice of 2h vs sword & board. If 5 man instance trash is a focal point with your preferred spec check out: http://db.vanillagaming.org/?talent#LMhxdGboZVVucMxoV 1 adjustment in arms tree taking anger management over 1% damage on 2h. Unbridled Wrath over Booming voice (refresh battle shout after fights to counter the loss of increased time), 1 point in piercing howl 2/2 imp execute, giving you 3/5 imp battle shout. Casters tend to leave finishing off low health mobs to melee as 50% of the time their longer cast and missile travel time = a dead target before they are able to get a hit in. Giving high value to imp execute in a 5 man. If you feel that isn't the case with your group, can move those 2 points into 5/5 imp Battle Shout.
Jeetee 2 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 Sounds like fun, get piercing howl to help control ocassional loose mobs, 2h tanking is fun.

Tanking without Shield is not even tanking , it is actually DPSing. /Kind regards Killerduki
Pwnflx 0 Report post Posted March 19, 2017 (edited) Don't get hung up on the topic of tanking. It was merely an anecdote : ) I guess the main quest is how important flurry and DW is. Is it worth sacrificing mortal strike for it? I see myself having a somewhat annoying time grinding mobs solo without mortal strike. Flurry would help with rage generation but I'd get axe spec and MS from sacrificing flurry and DW. Edited March 19, 2017 by Pwnflx
Jeetee 2 Report post Posted March 20, 2017 Dw and flurry aren't important unless you are raiding.
Pwnflx 0 Report post Posted March 20, 2017 So rage starvation would not be much of an issue even if I am not getting hit myself?
Jeetee 2 Report post Posted March 21, 2017 I'm assuming you have aggro. Also I don't know your faction, but 2h works a lot better on horde. Any decent healer can heal a warrior dps tanking. Downtime won't be bad once he/she gets an idea of the damage you take.
Pwnflx 0 Report post Posted March 21, 2017 Like I said, don't get hung up on me mentioning tanking - it was an anecdote. And it's horde side (UD), I'll have WF guarantee. :)
