Common channels issues (General, trade,...) [SOLVED]

Recommended Posts

Posted 12 hours ago in wrong section.

Hi everyone,

I noticed nobody never answered me when I talked on /general, then I figured there was a real issue with it. I cannot see general annoucements nor can't be seen by anybody. On all common channels.

I tried to /leave and /join again but nothing did the trick. I also deleted the WDB and config.wtf files.

Anyone has a suggestion? :o

Thanks!

Bye

config.wtf will not change anything. Try actually deleting the whole WTF folder (back it up first, or just move it out of the WoW folder).

Hi,

Deleting the whole WTF/WDB folders didn't resolve my issue.

I also de-activated all my add-ons.

Any other idea?

Do the GM look over this section? Where can I get their help?

Thanks

. Mera.

Lv 32.

At first, I thought just no one cared about answering. It really began to hit me as a reality that I wasn't connected to the chat around lv25... something like this.

What about GM support? Am I in the right section? :)

Thanks.

What about IG help tickets? I tried and got told GM dont deal with it, that I had to post here.

Hi Meraxys!

Funnily enough I had this exact same issue. I couldn't see guild chat, say, yell, whisper, anything. A lot of people were very angrily thinking I was ignoring them haha.

Essentially in vanilla it's impossible to reset your chat settings, as such this may be a little more tricky, personally to resolve it I had to make my WTF folder into WTF.bak and delete my WDB folder, but I see you have already done that. This may sound simple, but have you checked you don't have the channel unchecked?

Just right click the top button of chat (that says General) and look into these settings.

Let me know how you get along, please.

Hey,

Thanks for your answers.

@Paytime, yes the chat says something like this when I connect. I also joined another /general (which creates a /4 actually + the baseline /1) just for test. So basically, I can see what I write. The 'general' reads my message, but apparently nobody sees it. Looks like I'm alone on one particular /general.

@Noiryx, I can see guild chat, whispers, yell etc... The subchannels as you show were enabled already.

My issue only concern /general, /trade, /defense channels (the common channels as a summary).

I have breaking news.

Breaking news is : I changed the realmlist.wtf to another server (my previous one) and all works perfectly. Cannot incriminate my WTF, WDB, channels options nor Add-ons thus ?!

Pleeeease, it's really a pain in the a**... :/

I have tried solutions that worked for me years ago on Vanilla. All I can suggest tis to remove all the windows except the one that you can not. Remove all the channels possible. Restart WoW, repopulate the window with the channels that you wish. Other than that, I have no solution.

OOOOOOK.

Eventually found what was wrong. Total luck.

I was trying (and trying and trying again) to /w someone randomly to see if he was seeing what I wrote on /general and naturally answered : no.

Another couple "nos" then "yes" and directly "you're on the FR client, right?"... :O Yes, indeed, I am.

So, as a summary : one can only see people talking on /1 /2 /3 if he has the same client as them. And vice versa.

Bottom line. Plus, he told me a /world existed. Then no need the change the client.

I can see people, woooot! :p

Bye.
