Do gms have to tell you if they are a gm

There is a player in my guild he says he is not a gm, he is a gm and he told me gms don't have to tell you if they are a gm.

Why would he have to tell you he's a gm? I find it more likely that they're not allowed to tell people they're gms.

Define GM, Game Master, or Guild Master? Every guild has a Guild Master... but yes as far as I know Game Masters keep their identity secret although I'm sure many that play around them know if they are a Game Master.

There's a lot of people out there who claim to be Game Masters who really aren't. Our Game Masters do not reveal who they are on their personal accounts as it's against our policy.

As Nerfherder said, the Game Master team is forbidden from sharing their private account details with the community - anyone claiming to be a GM that isn't tagged as a GM when they whisper you in-game is trying to scare/impress you at best or impersonating one of us at worse. If you suspect a GM is violating this policy, please send a message to Akuta, Pottu, or Skeith on the forums with your findings and screenshots and they can investigate further.

And for the record, the interacting GM would normally make it absolutely clear they are a GM when they contact you, either by a whisper or in-game mail, usually by stating who they are and why they are reaching out to you.
